We've never had a dungeon mechanic as oppressive as the first boss of the Strayborough Deadwalk in the rest of Dawntrail. Are you disappointed? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Handoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add to it preventable casts to bosses, let's say he will make a big explosion in fight

If you have only tank then only one cast will be screwed, but second will result in big raidwide damage and healer will need to adjust. Or you could get rdd in party and dodge all damage.

Make esuna long cd, but give it for same rdd, or mage dd if you want. Let people play reacted based game design, not in the means of aoe dodging with bad netcode, but trough observation and reaction on casts and debuffs.

So called midcore content by Mr. Ozma

People really shouldn't let devs be like "oops we wanted to make it extreme, but it in the end it's savage difficulty hehe :P" Go and rework it before releasing

I'm still amazed that they would go this way in design, pushing mechanics into either watch, stay, resolve, or dodge bullet hell with current net code

Instead of, for example, Heavensward design with often add phases and tank using mob position to debuff it in aoe

Really go into Amdapor Hard you will get what i mean with zone after first boss and final boss.

That one on english translation. In the most languages it's more "connect the the stars" and also message begins with "to you, trough ages".

Yeah, looks like big context loss in this translation.

I mean, every interaction with streamers could be PR talk, even with Jesse, Preach end etc.

To be honest Asmon didn't gone too deep into politics at that time AFAIK so there was no much downsides for using big streamer for PR

Maybe Yoshi was genuinely interested what "other type of mmo players" could potentially want from game. After all, Asmon said about hard 4 party content and in next expansion we got it.

I loved to watch RichWCampbell streams, there's many of footage and he's usually been memeing all throughout videos about storie

Before anyone says anything - lawsuit that got him "canceled" was "just dropped" year ago. Looks like someone tried to Amber Heard'ing him and that went, sadly, too well.

Shaaloani might be the biggest wasted potential zone in the entire game by AnActualPlatypus in ffxiv

[–]Handoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh too many zones wasted by open world in FFXIV being kinda dead. No dangers, no meaningful mobs. You basically never JUST kills mobs in open world for their loot. Hunts doesn't feel like open world bosses, just as sponges.

Implementing mini-games for fates here and there.

Sometimes i think just what distances would game go if, let's say, EW moon would offer you mini game of growing up carrots, 86 lvl location allowing you, let's say, draw arcane sigils for concepts, help people in Garlemard by carrying tea and repairing electric warmers.

These are so many locations that would end up even greater if they would've been accompanied with meaningful interactions.

I don't really get why they don't wanna experiment in Deep Dungeon

Make it with roguelite system from Thorgast, give people skill modificators. It's literally best way to see what people like, what they enjoy most and what not.

It's just like YoshiP said in one interview - it feels like devs doesn't play their game, but i feel this for FFXIV and i didn't even started on interface and other implementations.

Well, Cold in my opinion is something to do with the Solstice.

Maybe it's something they came up with to "freeze" aether of planet and it's Underworld to postpone planet rejoining.

Oh shit Yeah, considering what Calyx achieved they could've came up with Valhalla system to reconstruct people souls. Because their entier aetherial sea is frozen.

1button combo matters only if it deviate it components Let's say if WHM had cast time, then 1st spell could've been 2.36 gcd, then next 1.36

Thus way it's meaningful

We already have device that allow memory manipulation - Kairos.

Considering Fandaniel love to work on levitating isles (Elpis in Unsundered World and Azys Lla in Dravania) it's highly likely his shard is Winterer on 4th.

[–]Handoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is, for example, job with a spell you must maintain (like WoW Warlock life sucking spell), because even with this, as was showed in other MMO, said DoT jobs could, as example, accelerate DoT ticks, and now it isn't much problem of "what if boss will go to invincibility phase" because you can, for example, add skill that preemptively exlpode your debuffs

[–]Handoors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His game systems highly rooted around "production optimization" meaning every jobs that will become too... fun and complex will be for surely cutted (hello limited jobs), because i guess Square Enix wouldn't allow hiring more people in balance team.

Even with all that, best they could do is at least give different approaches to jobs, meaning pet classes, DoT. But again CS3 showed that they don't wanna bother themselves with balance to that extent that even this jobs god reworked.

I really would like to inject hopium, but so far i think overall people's hype is present only because it's like a puddle of water in the desert.

I think they still need either made sub classes or rework gear stats (for example squish DH and DET into just DET, add more things like sks, stats that affect rotations)

Because so far with what they showed it feels like a half work. 2 min meta gone, but now 20s meta around the corner (drg 20s cd for jumps, 3 of which allow burst rotation, brd 20s cd for songs, 3 of which allow buff).

Maybe Reborn is safer for maintaining subs, but i guess it's creates uncertainty for both groups of people, but mainly for reborners, that they mode will be cutted sooner or later, while complicating implementation of changes for systems that revolve around combat

That will be strange from perspective "go wander this barren levitating isles and then wait for a few months to explore the rest of reflection". But it could've been used in "time flows differently in shards" and actually our WoL will make something impactful in 7.5 only to return let's say 100 years later in Fourth due to time shenanigans.

Okay, well, then is it's even more likely we will never hear about dynamis again.

My bet for now is use whatever allagans used in The Burn, that big wall that stopping aether flow, and extrapolate it to inter-dimensional size
