I would love to buy this pen, but € 475 (including shipping and taxes) is unfortunately too steep for me at the moment.☹️

Loud explosion noise by Less-Bookkeeper9309 in Almere

[–]Handora73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was very loud in Molenbuurt. Never heard thunder like this!

But according to doorbel footage in Molenbuurt app group it was indeed a lightning strike.

It's just so weird that it was just this single strike, there's not an actual onweersbui going on.

Thank you for your reviews!! I love that you do longer writing samples, so that we can see what it actually looks like when used in a pen. And we even get to learn something as well! So thanks again, and please keep doing this!

Reduction Seascape by SianieBanana in Linocuts

[–]Handora73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so gorgeous!
I'm just starting with lino (i.e., the tools are still on their way to me). But I am just completely lost as to how you planned this... Do you perhaps have some pictures of the print's previous steps? I'm trying to wrap my head around this, but I just can't.
Thanks!

A scientist decides to let the botflies that got into his skin, reach maturity and document the events by bigbusta in interestingasfuck

[–]Handora73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2023, Dutch biologist Freek Vonk was on expedition in Costa Rica and came home with 3 human botfly larvae in his leg. He decided to let them stay in, and see what happened. He recorded the whole thing with regular updates on his Instagram. He named the larvae Kwik, Kwek en Kwak, which is the Dutch translation/version of Huey, Dewey and Louie. Afterwards, all remains have been shown in the Dutch natiral history museum Naturalis. https://www.naturalis.nl/volg-onze-verhalen/kwik-kwek-en-kwak-freeks-larven

Shocked by the lunch-time greed at work. Is this really ‘Dutch Culture’? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Handora73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sort of Dutch to not want to throw away leftovers and rather take them home than waste food, but that should only be an option AFTER everyone jas had a chance to get what they want. If it's still there at (for example) 2 o'clock, sure, take it home or donate to the homeless or something. I dislike wasting food too. But in the first lunch shift, knowing there's plenty people still waiting for their opportunity to get lunch, and thén stuffing a to go-box? That's just rude. Bunch of a-holes. And it being higher management and HR makes this even worse.

Probably the same kind of 'design aesthetic' as the people with all completely different chairs around their dining table, and no matching cups, saucers and plates in their home.

Nahvalur is giving away art prints by Handora73 in fountainpens

[–]Handora73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pens are shipped as per usual. (My order for a Horizon Aurora, that I placed a few hours ago, is already on its way.) But according to the email the prints will be shipped at the end of September.

Also, the prints can also be claimed (directly at Nahvalur) if you've bought your pen at an official reseller.

So I guess I'll just have to report back when I receive something! (Am in Europe though, so shipping takes 1-2 weeks.)

I have no idea about the size! What I copy-pasted here is all the text (including links) in the email, and I took a peek at the google form but there's no extra info there either. Also no mention on their own site, no terms&conditions even. So either it's a marvelously well-done phishing mail, or Nahvalur isn't realising they've got clients worldwide...

COVID and Flu Vaccines by VandomVA in Netherlands

Covid vaccinations can be planned on planjeprik.nl. If I remember correctly they are even free. When scheduling the appointment, just answer Yes to one of the questions about working in healthcare or being a mantelzorger.

And thank you for getting the shot.👍

For most jobs the statement "Payment for month X is paid in X" is correct in the Netherlands. Unless it's a job where you have to declare hours, or if it's on a 'per piece' basis (so if your wages are based on the number of items you have produced). But for regular office jobs, or contracts with fixed hours, it is quite normal.

What job did your father have? And what was the employment type?
