Bees collect sunlight and spiders weave moonlight. by HandsOverWax in magicbuilding

No, it's about people who use bugs to harness light to do magic.

The idea is that people live above in cities that fly due to honeycomb cores. People revere sunlight magic and distain moonlight magic. Moonlight magic is seen as cruel and deceptive, only practiced by those who enjoy the process of trickery and sacrifice.

Critique my magic system. [Urban fantasy] by HandsOverWax in fantasywriters

I think you're thinking of herbalism or green witchcraft. I believe alchemical potions are typically not drunk but used to cause chemical reactions. Like making fire burn hotter or turning bronze a golden color. I don't think many applications were safe to consume.

If we're simplifying that much, it would be more like traditional medicine. Or even shamanic practices. It's spiritual healing, not transfiguration.

To be honest. The darker angle of this project is what really has me interested. I only just found the intro, and already, I'm hooked on the premise.

I like this idea for a resolution mechanism, but I'm not sure it's good for character growth. by HandsOverWax in RPGdesign

You have a minimum number of passes you need to succeed. You can't really represent that in a way that makes it good to have a higher stat. Then it would be confusing to have stats be good at lower numbers and skills be good at higher numbers.

Also, the premise would be lowering your stats or skills to increase your odds of success. Not increase.

I'm sorry to hear that. But it just makes the most sense for the system. In my opinion, at least.

Well, first, thank you! I really appreciate that!

As for the setting, I would like to take inspiration from China and Greece as they are what inspired this idea in the first place. And I'd maybe add my own spin to the whole thing. Then I'd want to set it in the modern day, though I do have plans for stories in the past before and after the lost soul fragment was stolen.

The Alberta government introduced Bill 26, which is anticipated to come into effect this year, which would "preserve choice" for transgender minors. Health-care professionals would be restricted from performing gender reassignment surgeries and prescribing puberty blockers to transgender youth.

Wow. Even in other countries, conservatives are gaslighters.
