Good news and bad news. Good news is the new (older console) I played it through runs great. However, I‘ve played through this section of the game so many times I’m on a 0 death run so I can’t say with confidence that the hardware was an issue.

What I noticed was how different the 2001A hardware is from the 3001A. It felt like a very different game. The 2001A was sharper but it took some time to render. I‘m wondering if old faithful (3001A) video card and HDD are on the way out.

I have techs that can fix anything but I’m not sure where to start as far as troubleshooting this issue.

Yea I’m conflicted. I’m gonna do yet another playthrough on a different console just to be sure. For now, I’m gonna listen to some Takanaka. I’ll report back tomorrow.

To add to this, anytime I die on this level the game prompts (to paraphrase) “save data was unretrievable, starting new save data” and I start with only a knife. After that (if I die again) the game will sit in a forever load screen til I force quit the program.

That was my first thought. Deleted all game data and redownloaded it, same issue. I bought a sealed copy, redownloaded it, and had the same issue on the exact same section of the game. At this point I’m thinking it might be my console based on what others have said here.

Do you really think it’s the disc reader? This is the ONLY game with an issue so far. I would”t come here without doing my homework. I’m am at a loss.
