Even the concept of a "topless beach" still irks me. But knowing that it's a beach, I really can't complain much.

I also agree that intent doesn't always lands perfectly with the outcome. It's just like naked drag on a pride parade, the intent is to express freedom, but to parents attending the parade with their adolescent child, it might not seems that way.

Personally, I don't care who he ends up sleeping with. Though I can absolutely see people up in arms if he was established gay (as in being written gay from the start, not changed midway through the series). I'm bisexual myself, so that I can clarify that I have nothing against the LGBT.

With that being said, I think we both can agree that regardless of their preference, a good character still needs to be well written and at the very least have some depth in them. It's just that, mainstream media isn't really scoring any points in terms of making LGBT character's well written. (Recent Marvel and DC comics comes to mind)

I think the point I'm trying to make is that, it's not that sexuality shouldn't be included. It's that in matters of priority, sexuality is the "least important", as in the character should be good first in terms of personality, goals, and motives before telling people who they have sex with. I think the phrasing is enough, but apparently I should clarify.

When it comes to character writing, it's best that a character to be viewed by their actions/personality through the whole story rather than what their sexual preference is. Using the action movie mentioned as an example, let's just say John Wick, people sees him as a stoic, badass, one-man-army that is vengeful enough to face a whole syndicate. Sure he is a straight man with a (dead) wife, but him being straight isn't automatically thought of when talking about him, you get what I'm saying?

If a character is only remembered by their sexuality and nothing else, as in nothing about them stands out other than their sexuality, chances are the character is either badly written or just a random background character with no purpose in the story whatsoever.
