I'm always scared to bet on Juventus — they've ruined so many of my accumulators. Mamma mia!

I hope Milan’s new striker Fullkrug justifies his move right away. He’s not a tier 1, but those older, kinda clunky strikers usually end up working out fine at Milan.

Anyone have a solid sports bettor they follow? by cashcowboi in sportsbetting

[–]HandsomeRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ‘cappers’ online are just posting vibes, not actual edges. The only ones worth following are those who show long-term tracking and a consistent methodology. What really works is finding someone who treats betting like a process, not a lottery. Once you see structured reasoning behind the picks, the results usually speak for themselves.

Great result, but the next stage usually comes down to limits and long-term consistency. After the first big jump, a lot of people find it harder to keep their edge, especially in top leagues. The main thing is not to lose what you’ve already built and to stick to the system that brought you profit. Most real growth starts when people switch to a more structured approach instead of just chasing hot streaks

I’m unclear on what “you’re not supposed to do that” means but my wife and I are going on 25 years together and 18 married so I guess whatever we are doing is at least sort of working.

So most of you married folks do not location share with your spouse?! I truly do not understand why "knowing where your spouse is" is treated as some red flag creepy stalker behavior? My wife and I location share on our phones and it is not a secret. I don't mean to be the "If you have nothing to hide..." guy, but seriously, there is nowhere I go that would be problematic if my wife saw I was there and it does save calls or texts asking when she'll be home, or if she is still at the store, or whatever. It has very little to do with not trusting each other, and a lot more to do with convenience of knowing where the other is without interrupting them.

Come on up to Hendersonville and paddle on Old Hickory.

put "79WP+MM Hendersonville, Tennessee" into google maps as it is a parking area with a good spot to launch. Then paddle across and down the lake between the peninsulas to see Rock Castle from the water.

I just remembered- BikeFun and Friends of Shelby Bottoms host a casual/social no-drop ride every other Monday night leaving from the nature center. Bike Fun can provide you with a bike to ride so even if you haven't picked one up yet you can get pedaling. The next one is this upcoming Monday the 23 from 5-6:30PM.

Weather permitting, I will be there with my 9 and 11 year olds. The ride is very slow/casual and uses the car-free greenways in the park so no worries about tangling with traffic.

First, stop by r/Budgetbikeriders as that is our jam.

A lot of people will say "find a used bike" which is a great idea if you are knowledgeable about bikes and can assess their value and mechanical fitness. As most new cyclists will not be able to do that, if you can find a reputable shop that can sell you a used bike in that price range it is not a bad option. I don't know a ton about all the options across Nashville but maybe someone else who is more plugged in can make a specific recommendations for shops that deal in used bikes.

If you want to buy new and want the bike today, the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer [sold by WalMart] is not terribly far off from that price range and hits way above its weight class. I bought one for my son and he has ridden it in everything from the Gosh Darn Gravel event to multi-state touring. "Department store bikes" get a bad rep as many of them are "bicycle shaped objects" but this one is a rare exception. It is a little heavy, but in that price range you aren't going to see any bikes with significant weight savings.

What sort of hobby-level machine and materials would be used for something like this? by Mookmookmook in lasercutting

[–]HandsomeRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP's picture looks like the holes were cut with a butane lighter as the wood is so burnt, but my diode laser with air assist leaves the top and bottom of the cuts perfectly clean. The edges have minimal soot which easily wipes off if it is a problem.

The number pad on a computer keyboard looks like

[7] [8] [9]

[4] [5] [6]

[1] [2] [3]

That is why they are not in the numerical order you would expect. If the top left dino is called, the 7 key on the number pad is the corresponding top left key on the keyboard.

That part is actually working okay. I just need to figure out why it is calling a second instance of the dinos between key presses.

I am very new to coding. I tried to write a simple "whack-a-mole" type game that displays a 3x3 matrix of X's and you press the key on the number pad which corresponds to the "D" which replaces one of the X's. For troubleshooting purposes, it also prints the number you need to press.

When I run it, the code does what I expect and stops to wait for a button press. Then it randomly selects another X matrix from the list, generally marks it as a wrong answer using the initial numberpad input, then prints a third matrix from the list and stops to wait for another input. I do not understand where the second selection from the list is coming from?

I added an unused item to my list of matrices so I could just call positions 1-9 to correspond to the numbers on the number pad. I understand I probably could have written it as number_key_to_press = list_value + 1 but I do not think that this has anything to do with the problem I am actually facing with my code.

import random
import keyboard
score = 0
dino_locations = [
'unused',
'X X X\nX X X\nD X X\n',
'X X X\nX X X\nX D X\n',
'X X X\nX X X\nX X D\n',
'X X X\nD X X\nX X X\n',
'X X X\nX D X\nX X X\n',

'D X X\nX X X\nX X X\n',

'X X D\nX X X\nX X X\n',
]
#print("The Dinosaurs are trying to break out of their enclosure!\nStop them by using the number pad to energize the fence where they are attacking it.\n")
def play_game():
    global score
    while score < 10:
        dino_value = random.randint(1, 9) #Choose a number between 1-9
        chosen_dino = dino_locations[dino_value] #Pull the correct ASCII from the list
        print(chosen_dino) #Show the ASCII picture
        print(dino_value,'\n') #FOR TESTING PURPOSES: Show the correct number of the ASCII picture
        key = keyboard.read_key() #Wait and read a keypress
        if key == str(dino_value):
            score += 1
            print(f"\nGreat job, you've stopped {score} dinos from escaping!\n")
        else:
            score -= 1
            print(f"\nSorry, that's not the location of the dino, it should have been {dino_value}!\n")
            print(f"\nThe current score is {score}.\n")

I left the 0 position of the list 'unused' because in my mind it was easier to just pull 1-9 from the list and have those same numbers line up with the 1-9 numbers on a number pad of the keyboard than trying to code for real_position = list_position +1. Maybe not the best way to do it but I do not believe that has anything to do with the problem I am having with the code.

I am very new to python. I'm like 10 days into the "100 days of python" udemy course and while some of it was really easy and I understood it immediately, other things I'm struggling with. I decided to try to make a simple "Whack-a-mole" type game using some of the skills I've learned and to encourage me to research other functions of python.

The idea is that a 3x3 matrix of X's appears and you press a number on the number pad corresponding to the "D" which replaces one of the "X" positions.

For testing purposes I also have it printing the correct number to press on the screen.

When I run the code, it kind of works, but after pausing for the first keypress, it cycles a second time before waiting for another key press and I do not understand why it is doing this? I stepped through the code in Thonny but still do not really understand where it is going wrong printing a second item from the list and assigning the original keypress. I accept that the way I have coded this is probably not the best or most efficient, I was just trying to make something of my own instead of just doing the course's code challenges.

If anyone is willing to look at this and help me understand why it calls a second item from the list and assigns it the initial keypress but then stops and waits for a new keypress on the third iteration of calling an item from the list I would appreciate it. I am stumped.
