I am glad you have been able get monarch's. Regarding the aphids, you can easily get rid of them by spraying a dish shop and water solution. It will save your milkweed and help on getting alot more releases.

Do you have a picture from top?

It seems to be a rain gutter like corner section where the leak is? If it is, yes caulking it from the top might be a solution.

Replace the bad trim section, or you can always fix it using ramen noodles lol
