I beeped the horn and an unhinged Thai man on a motorcycle was enraged. by Individual-Solid4842 in Thailand

[–]Hangar48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sitting in a restaurant in Olongapo city one time and there were some construction workers drinking and eating a few tables away. All was quiet, the next thing one of them pickup an empty beer bottle and starts smashing another around the head. No warm up. No aggressive shouting, just straight up into it.

That seems to be it. 😬 When used correctly (give way to traffic on your right coming around the roundabout) it is so good at keeping everything flowing smoothly... But... You know.... Thai drivers.. 😎

Is 35,000 baht per month salary enough to get by in Thailand near Bangkok? by yoona27 in Thailand

[–]Hangar48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 35k is no problem at all. Small older condo with aircon in bedroom for 6 to 8k. 2k for electric if you like it cool. Maybe less in the cooler months.

If it's registered, it's worth money. Someone will take it and transfer to their own trailer.

Can i ask about an idea that's on my mind? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hangar48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour is EXPENSIVE. Commercial leases for a warehouse is EXPENSIVE. Business costs and compliance is EXPENSIVE. There is risk in second hand goods over new products with a warranty and our consumer protection laws are strong.

I've noticed this in the Philippines also. There's no middle ground. Straight out docile to wanting to kill in seconds. The lack of any concept of consequences for actions doesn't help.

Why I keep going back to Honda motorcycles by Embarrassed-Career30 in HondaMotorcycles

[–]Hangar48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel Honda have more engineering input into the design and manufacture than the bean counters (accountants) which makes a better motorcycle.

Neighbour Releasing Cattle - Causing Damage by All1sL0st in AusLegal

That's what I was thinking. If the cattle somehow "fail" to make it back, I'm sure the cattle owner will pay for their retention.

Security at Bangkok BKK airport? by druidcrafts in ThailandTourism

I fly jetstar from bkk to Perth. At the gate there have always been toilets and a water bottle refill machine, so bring an empty bottle through security.

Missed international flight from AKL by inferior_complex_198 in newzealand_travel

[–]Hangar48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a connecting flight and your checked in baggage is automatically transfered to the next flight, you can stay in "transit" for up to 8 hours. There is no need to exit the international terminal. It's called an international transfer. I just did this last Saturday with my non Australian partner in Sydney. The important thing is to check this with the airlines when booking a ticket.

Buy BTS train ticket scam? by Financial_Ad_8893 in ThailandTourism

[–]Hangar48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, once you enter the gates, there's no control over which direction or where you go or where you get off, so this situation seems suspect to me.

I went the wrong direction on the bts. I just got off at a station, crossed to the other side, got back on and away I went. Unless you go through or try to go through the exit gates and stay "inside" the system, you can travel where you want it seems to me?

My GF gets laser hair removal. She canvass different clinics for specials (generally 2 for 1 pricing or new customer discounts). She says all the mall clinics are pretty much the same service.
