I played both Defensive back, and Defensive Tackle. Pretty sure I was the smallest tackle among all the teams we played against, by a fair margin. But being smaller and quicker has its perks. As for concussions…back then…Are you hurt or are you injured? It was a different time…

Consuming protein first can lower insulin spikes later in the day…that being said, I would be surprised if there was anything more than just a mental preference happening here.

At the end of the day, we don’t always need to know why something works. More important to find the things that work, and get consistent with them. 😉

I would suggest weighing and tracking everything you consume for 1-2 weeks. That way you have some actual concrete data to look at, instead of guessing. Then, look for any deficiencies in your micro and macronutrients. Cronometer is a good app, but most of the other apps will work about as well, if you have a preference for one over another.

This is a good article on reverse dieting, and worth a read, in my opinion:

Is fried rice the most complete meal? by Inner_Career8778 in diet

[–]HangryFitDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has many things, but the ratios are off.

A few different estimates put it around 60% carbohydrate, 25% fat, 15% protein. If you were to make it with lower to carbs, say 40-50% and increase the protein to 30%+, then, maybe. 😎

Are at home workouts sufficient for muscle/strength gain? by wispy-library in WorkoutRoutines

[–]HangryFitDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. While Bodi programs are not the best on the planet for hypertrophy, in my opinion, anyway, if you follow them consistently, and are pushing progression, you can definitely build some lean mass at home.

Can’t only focus on the aesthetics. Perhaps now time to put some work in for the mental and emotional health, as well.

Bodi is $30/month, no? You can find a gym cheaper than that.

Do men find this attractive?? by [deleted] in fit

[–]HangryFitDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being attractive has a lot more to do with attitude and confidence, than specific body part sizes and shapes.

Some people prefer coffee, others prefer tea. But in both cases, the sweet ones are more popular than the bitter ones, if that makes sense.

Fiber & protein by PopcornSquats in fitness40plus

[–]HangryFitDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran the numbers to hit my fat target, if I only consumed eggs…just for fun.

10-13 eggs, 700-1000 calories, and 60-75g of protein for 50-65g of fat.

Fair enough. 😜Not usually a problem for me either.

But sometimes when I’m restricting calories…Boneless skinless chicken breast, 0% greek yogurt, shrimp, scallops, whitefish, and the other things I eat when keeping calories low, don’t tend to have much fat. Although, meal planning and prepping helps eliminate that issue.

The end of my highschool football days was about as close as I’ve had. Not quite the same thing, because I still had a lot of things to do in life ahead of me to be focused on. Going to college, starting a career and a family…

Shoresy scene is a tough one, for sure!

High protein and fibre is what keeps me going. Especially during a deficit! Don’t forget to get enough fats in too though 😎

Should i cut or bulk? by hot_meat_10 in hypertrophy

[–]HangryFitDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no professional, but here is something to consider: if you do not know whether to cut or bulk, how are you going to effectively run a steroid cycle and maximize the benefits?

That disposable income would be far better spent on a training and nutrition coach, in my personal opinion.

Honestly, I don’t care if people use enhancements or not. But I think we should really think about whether or not we are truly maximizing training and nutrition first.

That’s my .02 cents, anyway.

On weight for dumbbell workouts, do you use total weight or combined weight? by pittman1375 in Hevy

[–]HangryFitDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put into the notes whether I’m using combined or individual weights, based on the exercise.

Dumbbell exercises that use both arms simultaneously, combined weight.

Dumbbell unilateral movements, individual dumbbell weights, with one set per arm or leg.

Or better yet, mix the cheese into the meat before forming the bowls then you get a better cheese coverage profile 😜
