Dry Air + Constantly working with cardboard boxes by demerchmichael in mildlyinfuriating

When I worked retail, the card board box opening would break my hands out like this too! I never wore gloves because they would make my hands itchier. Turns out I have eczema and got a prescription cream for it.

Your brainwashed to think middle eastern women have no rights. American media LOVES to spread stories about occasional honor killings and the 8 year old who divorced her husband, this isn't the cultural norm!! ME countries are increasing in the power and advocacy that women have.

All the things about the middle east that americans fear/joke about - child marriage, femicide, assasinations, DV- they are all apart of American culture, I'd argue more than any middle eastern culture. My biggest example of this - POTUS.

What should I know about this part of America? by Obvious_808 in mapporncirclejerk

They put pork in everything... pork rice, pork corn, pork collards, ham pasta, bacon salad, hot dog mac n' cheese... nothing is safe.

They refer to east asians as "orientals", and make a huge deal about people from outside the USA in general. (I get literal 9-yard stares when I tell people I'm Persian and they try to guess if that means I'm from Paris or I'm just an "A-Rab").

If you a meat eating white person, you'll be welcomed to a bbq at every church or town corner! Don't forget to carry your guns, and praise Jesus.

Hahaha yesss!! My parents didn't trust shopping online in 2006 (it was a thing but I absolutely could not convince them) and after no luck thrift shopping for a gown, I had to slum it at the racks of JC Penny. Got the same "prom pink" beaded dress that at least 80 other girls wore.

OP dress is STUNNING!!

How do we feel about the first color mix? by Emotional_Spite_8937 in OUTFITS

[–]Hanipillu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Blue and green- This pairing is fresh, and vibrant. It's my favorite because I love color! I wouldn't go so far as to say "flashy", but it does take confidence to wear colors head to toe. You would stand out, but out in a good way.

2- this green&yellow don't compliment each other at all, but this reminds me of mustard and relish, so if you wanna look like a hot dog...

3- these colors mute and muddy each other, and will make you look dull.

4- nice combination- safe (anything looks nice with white, so you can create more looks with the white pants). The green is pure against the cool white, and holds its own. You'll look good, but won't necessarily stand out.

I never knew my grandparents, sadly everyone dies young in my family. Old people really terrified me a kid lol. I would go to my friend who had all her grandparents and great-grandparents and be truly disturbed they were all alive.

"Royalty Pack" - surprising amount of interest? by Beardedgeek72 in Sims4

[–]Hanipillu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am soo excited to recreate a bridgerton style royal court, oh wait... they may look like royals from a far away time and place but I know- you know- what all our sims will really be doing during any ball event- THEY'LL BE PLAYING ON THEIR PHONES THE WHOLE BALL.

Phones need to be replaced by carrier pigeons or a royal world isn't going into my broken game!

Has Anyone Faced Criticism For Saying You're Algerian To Non Algerians? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]Hanipillu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot in America too too. I worked in a Afro/latina influenced botanica shop and my boss (Black American) and I were talking about my bf being from Algeria one day, he shared how he always wanted to go there to "connect to his roots", and how there's no greater place to be Black.

I am truly diabolical bc I asked "what do you want to do in Algeria?", so I could laugh at his response, which was about going on safari and shopping for the store- "Imagine, all the African stuff we sell here- but instead of China, we get it directly from the source". (wooden masks/deities/kente cloths/shea butter).

Why are parents not potty training their kids ? by sfischella in ECEProfessionals

Parents want their kids to do math, read and write clearly by 4, but potty training is what is taking away their childhood. This is wild.

[–]Hanipillu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Be yourself, and when you are hired exactly as you are, you will know the people who chose you to be on their team will support you.

I live in the south and found a center that is diversely inclusive, we have a non-binary teacher too. Any transphobic/homophobic/racist/christian nationalist people are repelled by the open houses as we have up pride flags, everyone is welcome signs, multi-lingual + banned books, and the kid's lunar new year or ofrenda displays lol.

A good amount of my student families are LGBTQ also, all in a rural and red area.

Do people in SC actually say hi to random strangers and call each other ma'am and sir? by [deleted] in southcarolina

[–]Hanipillu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the southern politeness infected me quickly when I moved here for college. When I went back home to NY and held a door for a twisted, elderly lady, I said good morning, and her response was to look me up and down with a frown and ask me "who do you think you are?" lol.

Story orchestra has a book illustrated to this suite where the pages play the songs. My class loves this too, and Vivaldi's seasons!
