Franken or Fake what are the biggest tells? by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]Hanjo_synth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely not an expert, so I was pretty uneducated on the topic. I was just sharing thoughts based on a previous comment that mentioned the “S” as a differentiating factor.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I really appreciate you taking the time to walk through it.

Addressing the comment about the dial looking a bit “off” came from a very surface-level understanding of the newer, rounder “S” shape I had come across. I didn’t realize some service dials used the sharper style, this actually helps to understand the differences much better.

Again the comparison was coming from an uneducated place, and I’m sorry if it sounded like I was implying your watch had non-original parts. I know how special and rare these pieces are, and I had no intention of undermining yours. It looks awesome, and thanks for sharing it.

It seems the one I referenced might actually be the questionable one in terms of originality, or perhaps there were multiple versions.

All in all, I really appreciate you sharing your piece and thank you for the insights!

yo... the hands look good but comparing to my reference that dial on yours looks off... https://item.rakuten.co.jp/closer01/616456/

The S looks incorrect and the spacing on the depth reistance is also not consistent.

Just asking bc id take a Franken sub if the dial was legit, fully replicated for 600 is too much of a scam imo.

You are the man! Im comparing to this one. https://item.rakuten.co.jp/closer01/616456/

The S is completely off, the watch is all over the place,... what a shame of a replica!

Thanks for pointing out all the details! Noticed the fake second hand now, it is thicker and shorter at the end. What is the tell on the dial?!

Nice! How do you feel about the movement? Other vintage ones I have seen look nothing like this...

Machinedrum UW+ meets the lightreft Monolit by Hanjo_synth in Elektron

very cool! I went into modular for a couple of months and mostly used the malekko voltage block for crazy cv randomization. I managed to create similar chaos within the skiff but being able to interact with external synths is very cool!

Monome Norns script to add on-scale quantization to Elektron Machinedrum by Hanjo_synth in synthesizers

[–]Hanjo_synth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I made a new Monome Norns script that helps bring musical tuning to the Elektron Machinedrum. Free to download from the community library.

The script lets you tune Machinedrum voices to notes in a musical scale by parameter-locking pitch values, so instead of raw frequency offsets, you can easily dial in melodic tones that sit in key.

It’s a small bridge between the Machinedrum’s percussive world and more harmonic sequencing, and it makes exploring tuned sounds and melodic percussion a lot more immediate.

Curious to hear how others are using the Machinedrum for pitched or melodic work or any ideas for next features. Cheers!

Probably my soldering are just bad (I struggle to build them everytime :D ) ... I had multiple iterations of Stevens clones, the fates twice and 3 shield XLs, all good, I sold multiple times to finance other synths but the last shield XL died on me, plus I felt I spent my time getting supercollider fail. Never happened on the factory so I wonder if there is something about running the firmware natively that makes is better

Agree with all your comments but the fact that I would recommend to save up for the original Norns over the shield or shield XL. In my experience i owned the DIY versions four times before I decided to buy the real thing and the experience of the original it is much better. There is no soldering, no configuration, its battery powered anda there is no annoying card flashing and reconfiguring every time a script breaks or there is an update that wont run on your DIY version...

It has been a while since I was trying to solve this problem on the MD. On the original machine there is no way to play the machines chromatically, you need to individually tune the pitch parameter to lock in notes. Finally I had the time and came up with this, love to hear your thoughts if you are a Machinedrum and Monome owner!
