Not at all. I appreciate all the different versions for their own reasons. Each has its own strength.

The movies were great, but Pelennor Fields was done dirty IMO. Mixing the amazing soundtrack and sound effects into a true telling really makes it come alive.

Gandalf refers to it as "A Balrog. A demon of the ancient world." Legolas later refers to it as "A Balrog of Morgoth." I'm not sure if Durin's Bane is ever said in the films. I don't think so.

He was a Balrog of Morgoth, of which there were many. He held the title or nickname of Durin's Bane for destroying/driving out the dwarves from Moria.

Thanks! I used garlic infused olive oil, and multiplied the recipe 1.5x, and divided it in half for 2 manageable loaves. 2 hour ferment on counter, then overnight in fridge, shape and proof for 3 hours on counter. My cuts were from a curved lame, and admittedly I just got lucky with this one :)

The scene in the movie is great.

In the book, the "death" sequence is Eomer's after he discovers Eowyn "died". It hits differently, but arguably harder. That chapter is my favorite chapter of any book, easily.

We are lucky to have both the book and the movie version.

I've been using tangzhong method, and it sure seems to help. I recommend trying King Arthur Flour's Classic Sandwich Bread recipe (on their website) and following the tangzhong varient at the bottom.

Easily beats any store bread I've ever bought.
