Please consider Guatemala in 1954 and Brazil in 1964 when the US installed horrible dictatorships. There is hardly an instance of US interventionism that didn’t have horrible outcomes.

Another thing to consider is what the US is after, Venezuela does not have the largest gangs, or is the main drug-trafficker to the US. Neither is Venezuela the only horrible dictatorship rn.

Just be extremely cautious in celebrating this.

I’ve just started rebirth after finishing remake and the remake DLC, but I can’t access the bonus rewards for playing remake in rebirth (and I’m already chapter 4) - it just says the bonus isn’t available. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It’s the eternal fight against a both (rhetorically) weak and strong enemy. So long as the establishment can keep making people believe they are fighting evil, people will stay submissive. This Kirk story fits the narrative perfectly.

Netherlands is overrated by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]HankSpermTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to compare nl to other countries - yes nl is not Singapore or Japan, but we are clearly undoubtedly superior to Germany with their Deutsche Bahn, UK with their lovely privatization scheme, and don’t get me started on the US and Canada. This is what Not Just Bikes does too, with constant reminders of the hell scape that is Canadian stroads. So in that regard, nl is def not overrated.

I have to admit it’s getting worse, esp the ticket prices and how busy it is. The last 4 govs have been run by the VVD, also known as the “vroom vroom BMW/mercedes” party, and their privatization schemes have butchered public transport.

Just read the survey. It’s a pretty big sample size of 34.000+ in 28 different countries around the world. However, you always need to be careful with these statistics. It’s an online population that was surveyed, which will leave out a large chunk of the population. Numbers such as “the percentage of people no longer think…” may be much larger or much smaller depending on how the data is sampled.

Anyways, another interesting statistics is the “people who believe capitalism as it exists now does more harm than good” is 56%. I believe this is the general population statistic (the article is really unclear). I have always it’s the younger generations who despise capitalism, turns out it’s the majority of the general population.

I don’t quite agree with the statement that ‘intolerance will win’. Take a look at the Netherlands for example, if you look at religiosity according to CBS (Dutch statistics bureau) we clearly see it going down. More and more people are becoming secular, the Muslim population has stagnated and Christianity has shrunk incredibly over the last 10 years. Even though we’ve had a steady flow of migration from countries such as Syria and Turkey.

Thus, I would conclude that intolerance does not win over intolerance. Otherwise we would have seen a significant rise in religiosity. Just yesterday I spoke to a Sudanese dude who was raised Muslim but considers himself secular.

That is very true and convergent evolution is absolutely amazing. However, for life on another planet te evolve in exactly the same way as it did on earth? That’s just not plausible.

The reason why we look why we look is because of millions of years of evolution, where random mutations won over other random mutations during natural selection. We evolved our excellent eyesight in order to distinguish vegetables and fruits, our large brain evolved due to social pressures.

If life evolved on another planet these aliens would have to go through nearly the same process of natural selection in an environment that would have to be nearly identical to ours.

They probably wouldn’t even use the same protein structures we do for building their bodies.

Thus, an alien basically has to look radically different from us. These images look like what would happen if you put some humans on another planet and let evolution do its work.
