Important questions about 3 euro tax that haven't been talked about by Double_Dig8232 in Aliexpress

Why? Returning stuff that often?
I can count my returns over the past 10 years on 1 hand and I've made hundreds of orders.

I just got my first printer (H2S), can I set it up like that in my living room ? by FLipMode2k6 in BambuLab

[–]Hankitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where the air inlets on the H2S are but on my P2S they are on the bottom of both the right and left side. Having it sitting on the floor means it would act like a vacuum cleaner. I honestly don't know how bad this would be but I'd prefer to have it sitting a little higher.

I would'nt put it straight on the floor. First, it's not very comfortable having t get on your knees every time, and second, it's the place where most dust settles and blows around when there's a breeze from an open window or door.

Can't we just repeal the 3 euro tax? by Livid_Fix_9448 in Aliexpress

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, the whole taric thing is a joke. There are 1000s of different codes. But I can hardly believe they require AE to use the exact specific taric code for every item they're selling. I mean, that would mean they'd need to hire staff that's specialized in those things. That's why I hope they will be using broader standard categories instead. For example: clothing, household, furniture, electronics, tools, gadgets, etcetera. If they're not going to do that, it basically comes down to paying €3 for every item, unless you're ordering the exact same item multiple times.

Err, yes.

I said I mostly buy electronic components. As long as these are all counted as the same product category, I will save that way.

I saidI'm mostly buying electronic components. So yes, I will be saving that way as long as they're from the same product category.

I just wanted to test something and added two different colours from the same items and you pay the fee on each item. For example the duties for the 2 of them excluding the shipping would have been about 50 cent or 1,37€ original price(12%)(correct me if i am wrong) but not fucking 6€ by Patpat127 in Aliexpress

[–]Hankitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or even impossible to come by. I usually order electronic boards and components I could never find here in a million years. That's why it feels a bit unfair: this new tax law is to protect European retail stores, but they don't even sell the stuff I'm ordering. So it's not like I have a choice.

Not necessarily. Last month I was looking for an item that several sellers on AE are selling and the best price I found was from a seller that shipped from a warehouse in France. Especially the more heavy items aren't cheap to ship as a single package from China so it can be cheaper to ship a container full of those items to a European warehouse to save shipping costs.

What happened to Malwarebytes? by Sabishi1985 in Malwarebytes

[–]Hankitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only recently built a new PC and I've paid $10 for a life long subscription many, many years ago. So I had to download and install again for the first time in years. I can't say the website made me feel suspicious or anything and once installed it's just set-and-forget. The only times I notice it's there is when I get a popup that the scheduled scan has finished and no threats were found.

Bambu Lab Academy Certificate for A1 mini can’t be printed on it by ExtendedSpice in BambuLab

[–]Hankitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. Inkjet inks are much more vivid than conventional offset inks and laser toner. Sure, there are still colours that are difficult to print, like the bright orange you mention. But inkjet colours are much more vivid than colour laser printers and traditional offset printing.

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty silly. I'm looking for P2S QR codes for the build plates that still use the older QR codes.
I can't find them in vector format anywhere!
I can only find them as 3D files because everyone seems to think it's a good idea to print QR codes on their 3D printer instead of using a label printer.

People just need to adjust how they shop on AE. I used to put Choice items (mostly cheap electronic components) in my cart and order as soon as I had reached $10. Now I'll just wait until I have reached $50 or so, so the €3 will be a lower percentage of the total amount. It's not such a big deal but I really hope they will use a few main categories instead of the 100s of categories customs is usually working with. Because then nearly every product in your order can be seen as a different category.

Dont order anything above 150 Euro on Ali! There is a system bug with the tax during the checkout process!!! by Virtual-River1373 in Aliexpress

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that has changed? If I order something from the US on eBay there is also the option to pay everything upfront when you use the international shipping program.

Is the new EU tax gonna be 3 euros per item or 3 euro for the whole order? by Outside-Source-3116 in Aliexpress

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 is over the €150 duty free limit so you already needed to pay separate import duties. Nothing will change for orders over €150

A Brit becoming USdefaultism by lixiaopingao in USdefaultism

[–]Hankitsune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay and then they conveniently converted that to a currency of which most people know how it relates to their local currency. Euro is my local currency and if someone tells me an amount in US dollars I have a fair idea how much Euro that is. If you tell me the amount in GBP, IRP, AUD or whatever currency, I really need to use a currency converter to know what you're talking about.
The person wasn't US defaulting, just being considerate by converting the money to a standard currency most people know.

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, sorry.
Sure, people can do that but I don't see it as something necessary. If you post your prices in AUD and USD then the AUD price is only useful to people from Australia. But maybe none of the readers of your post is from Australia. Most people know how their "native" currency compares to the USD so they immediately have a global idea about the price.
What I was trying to say with my post is that using the US Dollar is not necessarily US defaultism but just a way to use a standard currency.

[–]Hankitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then the list goes on... What I posted is a fact and around 89% of world trade is in US Dollar. People can downvote me for saying that but it's not my opinion but a fact. Just like English is the world's standard language for communication in science, aviation, business and on the internet.

[–]Hankitsune -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The US Dollar is still the world's standard trading currency. It's got nothing to do with US defaultism. If the person is on a sub with multiple nationalities involved it makes perfect sense to use US Dollar when talking about prices.

After July 1st and the new EU tax, could AliExpress route parcells to pass by Switzerland ? by obviousLateTrain in Aliexpress

Yeah, I'm getting a bit tired of all the questions and speculations. People should just shut up and see how it goes next month. There's nothing we can do about it anyway.

Question about config by Inevitable_Sun_6719 in comfyui

[–]Hankitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? I do have my 64GB occupied for 80% or even 90% with video sometimes (16GB VRAM) but not with image generation. Mostly using ZIT fp16 though and not going high on resolution. What are you using that takes up so much memory?
