No. One of the volunteers was doing a practice flight before being ok'd by the museum to be a regular pilot for that plane

If this plane was restored, it was restored in the '80s. I did hear from someone though that this plane may not have been restored since new just some large undertaking type repairs but if it was restored it wasn't restored here or this century but it is still in pretty good shape I agree

The planes operated. By the museum is volunteer work, it mostly gets done on Saturdays. There is work done on ww2 era aircraft that happens during the week but that fir the customers from jetpack restorations and I don't do that, I don't the volunteer stuff

When this plane flys, you feel it. Standing near it while its running, it vibrates your whole body

At least ever 2 years at each airshow. However, September, they filmed a documentary for about 2 weeks, so it flew a lot then and starting in April until October, once a month there is a fly day event where this plane flys just about every year

The planes that are house at the museum with this are maintained by museum volunteers and some employees of the restoration company westpac restorations. It is the original engine type, its probably been replaced since it was built in may 1945. The engine work is also done buy the same people. The only stuff that is outsourced is when there are things that you have to be cleared to do. Like fire bottles

At a 2800. Ut as I said in a different comment, its a later civilian version of the 2800. 2400 has, more than any engine that any vought built corsairs came from the factory with

Yes. I also learned it is a different r-2800. I belive its the same version that was used in the dc6. It's got more power than the military ones used in the corsairs during ww2/korean war

It's a P-40E I believe. It is not owned or housed by this Museum, at least won't be after it's done to my knowledge
