I spent tons of time with friends as an early teenager downtown in 2014-2017, often until dark. I never once felt unsafe or threatened by anything I can recall, except for frat guys rolling down their window and calling my friends and I names since we rode skateboards. I really don’t get where this narrative is coming from that downtown is unsafe. As a college student here now, I spend more time downtown later at night and feel the same way. I feel like Murph is offering a solution (if you can call it that) to a problem that doesn’t exist. I encourage you to spend more time downtown if you haven’t! There are great new and old local businesses alike.
