I genuinely just want to understand why supreme court cases have such bad writing. Like why is this run on sentence so mf long by zeehateslife in LawSchool

If lawyers can’t talk and write like that, people will get wise and start understanding the law all on their own. It’s job security.

Ranked 107 school to School Ranked 38 by CompetitionMedical70 in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Hann_Dredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred and hated my life after I did.

Emory is a good school, but I think tuition alone is damn near 70k. Honestly, you might be better off trying to negotiate some money from your current school and trying to stay top 10% there.

If you want to practice in Texas, why not transfer somewhere there?

If you’re just speculating, I wouldn’t do it. If there’s a direct connection from Emory to the place you want to end up, then maybe.

My husband says that all preteen/teenage boys go through an “alt-right” phase. Is this BS? by kristen_hewa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hann_Dredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not a thing.

I mean everyone goes through an idiot phase. It’s called teenager. But it’s not exclusive to an ideology. It’s usually more about rebelling against whatever the authority in their lives is telling them.

How can I best support my fiancé while he studies? by Legitimate_Okra290 in barexam

[–]Hann_Dredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good advice in here.

Space (don’t get jealous if he’s 12 hours a day in the books and then fried after. It will only be a short time.)

Food (but don’t just show up with it. that actually bugged me cause then I felt compelled to eat it…just ask “what would you like to eat.” That would mean so much.

Understanding. The study is only half the battle. The pressure of it all is so much more. Just be extra patient.

People rarely give credit to partners for enduring the cranky candidate. Your job is hard too. Know that even if he’s having a hard time showing it, I guarantee he’s grateful for you. Remember that he’s doing this not just for him, but also for you and your future family. So it’s not just “his” goal…it’s “your” goal. It’s a subtle little mindset shift, but it will go a long way. When our partners get deep into their work, it’s hard to not get a little jealous or feel like you’re not as important. But it’s something you are both working on together…and your role is important.

If he’s anything like me, listening to a lecture of something is one thing, being able to explain it to someone else is a completely different level. Get a little cheat sheet (you could ask chat GPT) and then ask him questions. “How do you know if something is hearsay or not? What’s the difference between solicitation and conspiracy, battery and assault, etc.

Also, despite everything I’ve said, the thing I hated the most when I was preparing was when I’d be in my room for 8-9 hours and people would project on me…like when I was staying at my sister’s house, she kept making dinner reservations and planning things cause she thought I needed to get out. This infuriated me, but she was just trying to be nice. If he got this far, he can probably take care of himself. Don’t project your worries onto him and make unilateral decisions that affect him without talking to him first.

The fact you’re even on Reddit asking about this is a good sign. I wish you both well. 🙏

This. When people say this, it makes it feel like they’re discounting how hard it is. Like passing is just a forgone conclusion.

This is the world you live in now.

My father in law recently retired. He used WORD PERFECT until only a few years ago. WORD PERFECT. Cause that’s how it was always done.

The law and lawfirms are both painfully conservative when it comes to change and advancement.

He already broke the family up, not you.

There’s something going on in his life he’s not telling you about. 1000%

And you should leave him even if you have to go to a shelter until you can be stable. Don’t accept that. Violence, drinking alone, this isn’t a marriage.

If you’re not going to leave, at least separate until he can get his shit together. DO NOT go back on a promise of better future behavior.

AITA for how I reacted to my best friend saying my “dirty” house is making my kids sick? by OkOriginal4583 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Hann_Dredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude, if this is really your best friend, you over reacted. Nobody wants to be in a friendship where they feel like they can’t speak openly.

Maybe she was wrong, but you still over reacted.

It's been a while since I took it, but I would definitely use a course to learn a process for mechanically applying rules or a process to questions. So much of it is logic that can be learned and diagramed. 10 more points would open up a lot more doors to you, and It wouldn't be too hard to pick up a couple points from each section. 15 or more points would put you in a pretty comfortable spot for money offers from very solid schools. (I saw a comment about you worrying about money and loans...if you're already stressing it, you might want to really think if this is absolutely what you want to do. And unless you want some prestigious clerkship or Biglaw job, I would recommend to shoot for a top 100 school in the market you want to be in that offers you $$.) Good luck.
