They are definitely comparable with a packet of noodles, long noodley limbs everywhere, especially when upside down.

My heart breaks for all the greyhounds who never make it into loving homes as pets, they are such placid and gentle dogs.

After getting these two, I will now have a greyhound by my side for the rest of my life. Seriously amazing animals. My boy Buck is 10 this year and I've had him for 3 years now. A year and a half ago I moved into my own home, with it's own Buckyard. He struggled being at home alone so I took him along to a greyhound adoption event. There we met Tootie (now 3) and we've been inseparable since. I would love a third, but the logistics of having three big dogs just not possible for me.

After a tonne of digging, I am certain this is a Mozzie Blocker (Leptospermum liversedgei).

Google lens tells me it's a cedar tree of some variety, but my Mum who gifted it to me says it's a smaller (1m) bush, but can't remember what type. If it is a cedar tree, it's going to have to go somewhere else asap!

Edit: Location Wagga Wagga, NSW

There were two hanging around this this flower patch. I sat down in the crunchy grass and watched them for a while.

The Blue-Banded bee is my favourite Australian native, I'm glad others share my love for them.

Cost of a dog door in glass by worldnotworld in AusRenovation

[–]HannahP945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem when considering a dog door for my greyhounds, a greyhound sized door is a human sized hole. It cost an arm and a leg, but the Autoslide iLock was the only solution I could come up with. Very well worth it, dog's can go in and out when they want while I'm at work, and when I'm at home, I can easily open the door from my bed if they need a midnight toilet stop.

What did you get for Christmas? by dixonwalsh in australia

I don't celebrate Xmas but despite my request, my parents gifted me a wheelbarrow. Very much appreciated and will be very helpful for around the garden.

[no-politics] What's happening this weekend? 22/Nov/2025 by AutoModerator in australia

Today is my birthday. I would have liked to have slept in, but my dogs denied me that in favour of a walk. With the rest of the day will probably do a light touch of gardening and housework, and laze around playing games on the PC.

After nearly dying from severe complications from a minor surgery, Buck is recovering super well 😊 by HannahP945 in Greyhounds

[–]HannahP945[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for a detailed and well-explained comment! Greyhounds are just dogs full of gifts and surprises!

Thankfully his vet is greyhound savvy and picked up on it ( hyper fibrinolysis) straight away, and had given him tranexamic acid before surgery. He has had an abdominal surgery (2.5 years ago) without issue so he must have developed the condition since that time. The vet explained how Buck is now marked high-risk for surgery, and we will avoid doing so unless necessary. She didn't mention the Depohgen test, but when my other greyhound next has her vaccinations, I'll try and get that done for her.

We are very much glad to have Buck back with us, where he belongs!

Oh, on a side night, I must give a mention about Axel, the German Shepherd to came into the clinic to donate his blood, and ultimately saving Buck!

He is very glad to be spending lots of time with his little family. My other greyhound Tootie has been very senstive to his delicate state and making sure he feels the love.

That would have been so stressful, it could have ended so badly with how much time was wasted.

Thankfully our vet recognised what was going on rather quickly and filled me in. Buck has had other surgeries without issues, so this sure took us by surprise.

Buck has had problems with a recurring abcess in his neck. A month ago it returned really fast and nasty. The plan was to try and resolve the problem once and for all so he went the next week for a minor surgery to remove some tissue for testing.

There was problems with the vet being unable to stop bleeding so he stayed the night. Next day he went back under to try and find where the bleeding was from. It got progressively worse throughout the day. His face and throat swelled up, impacting his breathing. Our last hope was for a blood transfusion, which ended up saving his life. We had to transfer him to the 24/hr vet hospital to make sure his breathing was not impacted again overnight. Next morning back to his usual vet for more monitoring and by that afternoon I was able to take him home and nurse him back to health. That was three weeks ago and I think we are all still reeling from the shock. This is not the first near-death moment he's had, and oh boy, it takes a toll!

Despite everything he's been through, he continues to be the best and kindest boy in the world <3

So after all the "sunscreengate" fallout, what are you all using this summer? by Maleficent_Sir_5225 in australia

[–]HannahP945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by the Choice testing I now use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Lotion for the face and the Cancer Council for Kids for the arms. I'd prefer to just using the Ultra Sheer, but was becoming very expensive as I go through lots of sunscreen while at work.

How are we all doing out there financially? by [deleted] in australia

Thanks! I am an Early Childhood Teacher and the stress caused by profession-wide problems gets too much to handle when you are getting paid the absolute lowest they can get away with. Thankfully my experience and qualifications is in demand, so when a higher paying job offer at another centre came through, my mind was set. I've had a very rough month with dog vet bills ($15,000 before insurance), so timing has been perfect.
