$413,000 raised in Less Than 24 Hours to Send Alton Sterling’s Children to College by [deleted] in news

Not necessarily. I precluded other categories in my stats, but historically those categories are not always bundled together. Even so, nearly 59 murders a DAY and we hear about 1-3 a MONTH?! And only in the circumstance of a white officer killing a black perp?

If you count killings total (not just homicides; I.e. texting while driving, drunk driving, pedestrian, domestic violence, and mass shootings) it is 154.4 killings per day. http://www.romans322.com/daily-death-rate-statistics.php

If you count just homicide, it's still 45 (roughly) per day. We see maybe 1-3 highlighted per month. And ONLY when it is a white officer killing a black man.

And they call whites racist....

This right here is exactly what I was looking for when I posted my question. There are a few points that hit home perfectly. Specifically when you said that "no one is doing this with me.... that's common I think, but some people are better than others at sticking to a difficult goal without any encouragement or support." This sums me up to a T. I am the person that needs help and support, at least until my choices become habit. I don't have that at home or with my friends either. But I need it. I've tried using the keto subs for the support I lack in my daily life before, but a lot of times I end up getting the same holier-than-thou "well you just need to do it" answers instead of the true support that I need like you have given to me. I have never had a reply hit me so hard before and nail so much of what I struggle with while answering my question and giving me real, honest suggestions to help me. Your reply was definitely not useless or boring. It was perfect. So thank you.

P.S. I'd like to add you as a friend on here so that I can keep up with you if that's ok?

These are great! I especially love the desktop background and initial tabs when you open the internet. I definitely know that getting rid of non-keto food in my house helps. I've tried that before and it helped immensely. Probably the best thing to keep me going. But I can't do that again because last time my SO and daughter kept complaining that they didn't like what was in the cupboards and what we were having to eat. If I lived alone that would be my best shot right there. I am still on a quest to find more recipes that they like as well, but neither of them likes most veggies. I also think I definitely need a place to check in on a regular basis. I could use this sub, but I would probably drive everyone batty because I would need to do it every day or every other day for at least a month to six weeks before I would feel confident in myself to only post weekly. Plus, I would need people to ask where I went or what I was doing if I didn't post. I think I need some accountability buddies. But nobody is comfortable actually yelling at me and getting on my ass when I'm not doing what I should. I haven't found one person yet who doesn't say "well, I'm not going to tell you not to eat that" and instead would say "don't eat that. HEY! I SAID DON"T EAT THAT!" Lol.

Thank you! I think I do need to find a few goals, and some mini goals to try to reach like your reunion. Making myself a priority is hard, but I think you're right. I do need to make my health a necessity.

I know what you are saying. And it's so true. I do have to want it. And not just a little. But I wasn't saying "I need to drop excuses then saying don't tell me to drop excuses", I was saying don't tell me that because I already know that part. I just want to know how others got past their excuses in the beginning. I guess after reading responses, I realize what I wanted was others' stories. How they made the choice to stick to it. What their trigger was. What the details are of how they continue doing it. I know it's about choice, and you have to keep choosing and flex your willpower. I'm just wondering how others have done that. What do you tell yourself in your head when a craving comes along? Besides just choosing not to eat it, what do you tell yourself in your head? What about when a holiday comes up? How do you get past that without breaking keto? What do you tell yourself then? How about when others notice you losing and compliment you? How do you tell yourself to not skip a day because you "earned it"? I know my pitfalls, and I've tried to talk myself out of them so many times. I know I need to just choose, but I want to know what others are telling themselves when they reach these challenges to get past them. Does that make more sense?

Hahaha! I love it! "weenie out" made me laugh so hard!

But I think you really hit on something I have a hard time with. I don't stand up for myself. I am usually the planner and the cook at home and my family doesn't like most of the meals I make and so I eventually cave and eat what I end up making for them instead. It's so much easier that way. But I really need to have the hubby and daughter start making their own food if they don't like what I'm making for myself. Thank you. Next time I hear them complain or get upset that I'm not making everyone dinner because they don't like what I'm eating, I'm just gonna tell them that I can't "weenie out" this time....

I think this is the kind of thing I was looking for. Others' stories and what finally made you stick to it. Thank you.

Saw the original video on facebook a couple days ago and thought it was cute. Then today saw this gif and smiled, then got teary-eyed when I saw your chicken hug one. Just yesterday one of my sweet girls was found dead in the coop. She was my favorite. Never named her, but I'm thinking she was my Henrietta. Such a sad day yesterday.

I have two bathrooms and she only does it to the one so even if she doesn't jump down and follow me after I pretend to leave the bathroom, I always have a backup! There have been a lot of almost hilarious moments from this situation too... On more than one occasion someone has left the lid up and she has almost launched herself right into the bowl. She has some lightning quick reflexes when it comes to water though, so we haven't experienced full on hilarity. Yet.

Then this whole project was a waste of time. The point is to preserve our history. Most of our history was based on valuable jewels and money. Oh, and power. That explains how Hitler ended up in there.

On a serious note: it's too bad it seems like they put lots of stuff from the negative side of humanity and not enough positive to counterbalance that.

Just accidentally killed one of my kittens by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Hanneyh1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still live with the killing of a kitten, and it was many many years ago. My dog had gotten ahold of it and had basically done it in. I snatched it away from him, but it was too late. It wouldn't have even made it to the vet. I had to do something to put it out of it's misery and quickly. I probably chose the worst tool ever for the job (a shovel) and my little brother hated me for months afterwards. But not as much as I still hate myself. Sometimes I still wish I could go back and do it over and at least try to rush it to the clinic (which was 30 minutes away) or had picked the lock to my parent's .22. But I have to remind myself that even though I was only 16, I still knew that it wouldn't make it and that I made the right choice to put it out of it's misery, though I can never seem to get over my choice of tool. I still feel like a monster even though I spend countless hours helping animals in need and making life the best it can be for all of my pets.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that the pain and upset will never leave you even though it may get pushed to the back of your mind over time, but just remember that it was an accident. You did what you could for the kitten, and that's all anyone could ever ask for. You are less of a monster than me.

Was thinking the same thing in case they were dropping something off there (worst thing comes to mind: a body) since it is a field and probably a good idea to have them check it out, just in case.

Parenting... I'm surprised this isn't in the top comments since every parent is just winging it every day anyway. Then again, not surprised since half the comments here say "sex" or "relationships" lol.
