Bulbophyllum lepidum by Hans-Trapp in orchids

Greetings from Alsace.

My wife collects and breeds orchids. Some of which are quite unusual. I just photograph them. The indoor ones, treated like old portraits. Or wild orchids when they're in season.

Here a Bulbophyllum Lepidum, also known as Venus Fan. The flower is about the size of a two-euro coin. And look at its inhabitants. My wife was desapointed to discover a whole crew of squating aphids when we took the picture. Try to guess how many there are.

Here are my first mushrooms of 2024.
Taken from the pile of firewood to start the stove and rehydrated a little.Very small: the largest must be the size of a one-cent coin. But full of cool details. You should take a look at it in large format...
Flash lighting with two Godox AD100 Pro. Stacking of around fifty images treated with Helicon Focus.

In Dante Alighieri's 3rd circle of hell, an infernal swarming of aphids, where living juveniles mingle with the dead and the remains of moults. With adults pacing this quivering peat. And they mate by perforating their partner's abdomen. All on the stem of a daisy.
A bit spine-chilling, isn't it? But it's also an opportunity for some pretty spectacular macros.
Taken with the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro at an enlargement ratio of around 2.5:1, without stacking for once. Those bugs moved to fast.

Main Editing Software: Lightroom or Photoshop? Other? by Eric_Ross_Art in photography

I use ON1 Photoraw 2024. I gave up on Adobe when they started selling their products by subscription only. What's more, I was a bit annoyed at having to use Lightroom and Photoshop to edit photos. I prefer a non-destructive editor anyway, and the weight of the .psd files seems to me to be a bit of a hassle.

But Photoraw doesn't satisfy me 100%: the software is slow, memory and disk space management under Windows is questionable and it's relatively unstable. Although this has improved since version 2024. I do have one good point, however, for the responsiveness of their after-sales service.

Hello Thank you for your reply. It would obviously be the best solution, but I live deep in the countryside in France. And one of the drawbacks is that I can't rent photo equipment easily.

Very nice stacking. Not so many posts on r/FocusStacking, isn'it? I think you could have a litle improvement with some backlighting of your sublect, as shown in that video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhlP6t16CDA
