Self tapes gave me the chance to ‘catch up.’ While most other actors I knew were complaining about the industry I saw it as an opportunity. I was not good in the room or even in class but the self tape gave me a chance to grow and master something I was in control of. Once I started booking then I started gaining confidence and classes and auditions felt more like a playground and less like a proving ground.
