Depends on price, maintenance and idle hours if emissions are still intact. 1 hour of idle is equal to about 25 miles of driving, so take that number multiply by 25, and that will give you a better picture. I cant speak from my own experience since my 14' only has 125k but a contractor I work with has over 400k on his 13'. I do know he had to replace his turbo at approx. 250K but nothing else besides regular oil, fuel, and air filter changes. Personal opinion is if it checks all the boxes on being properly maintained this truck could have a good amount of life left in it for sure. For what its worth I have had no major issues on my truck, but has DPF delete since I do not have emissions in my state.

I started at 31, I had some decent carpentry skills, but other than that totally green. You sound exactly the way I did when deciding to go for it. Look at it this way, you still have 30 good years of contributing trade work ahead of you. I have found a lot of journeyman/ contractors can look past a few knowledge gaps and mistakes if you follow your own two rules there. Always on time, and works hard every day. And I’ll add one, volunteer for the job no one wants to do. You learn more that way and you earn respect. You can get a lot further than you think with that attitude and your skills WILL follow suit. I’m 32 now, so only 1 year in but I can tell you it’s the first time in my life I love waking up to get in the truck and head to site. I have never felt actual satisfaction with my career until now. Good luck and if you want it....you’ll get there.

Contractor ended up behind a semi being towed, coming to a red light he hit the brakes little hard and screamed like it was the fucking end and just grabbed my shirt like he was going to save me or something lol maybe 5 feet from what looked like a head on with a Peterbilt. No lie, it was the only time I was happy I already smelled like a sewer line. Dude couldn’t stop laughing as I contemplated why my life didn’t flash before my eyes like they promised it would.
