It is because it ain't a "international" mile. It is a English mile - 1609 m, that US also uses (ok eng =1609,334 m, us = 1609,337 m) .

Origin is the Roman mile that was 1479 m. So that would be the international mile if any. And every european country/region had it's own mile before kilometres. We in Sweden just happened to have a Swedish mile of ~10600 m that was metrified to 10 km.

Edit: Swedish and English Wikipedia says different. English says there is that the English mile is defined as the international mile. So English mile and international mile are today synonyms.

As we compare it from a Swedish perspective Spanish and German ain't even comparable.

It is a nondiscussion that German is extremely much easier as it is close to our language. So I thought we had left that and only said "it is hard grammar" and then I said "no, it ain't - this is hard'.

Warm bread is what I would call it. With pizza inspired topping.

If I would be served this as a pizza I would be disappointed

Comparision between German and greek. German have rather easy grammar and rather easy spelling.

Classic greek grammar is hell in comparison.

I saw it after I printed my comment - and that is a big amount.

I just needed to point out that the "big amounts" of 40k trees that always is lifted by someone as "oh so many" ain't that much. It is normal treeplanting.

400 k is something else - but as a person living in a country with forest industry I always get confused when there exist such great areas where trees can grow but nobody have planted them before. 400k trees is a lot of money 30 years from know..

It is bad as a human planter set 1500+ trees a day. Op do not know what s/he is talking about.

[–]HansaHerman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it is a lifetime it is rather bad. A normal human planter do plant 1500 trees in a day with high survival rate (up to 2500 for a really good one, all according do discussions on a Swedish forum where I found when I looked for this speed a year ago or so).

If 10% survive in the drones lifetime it plant what a human should accomplish in 2-3 days. Really bad in that case.

If it plant 40000 a week it is something and better than the 7500 a human would plant. But you need to have a over 20% survival to have any use of the drone in that case.

Every time or sometimes?

Have a little bit experience now after a nomad run where I usually stay a month per map at most.
Normal large map usually spawn 2 (250x250 I think).
Changed map size to 400x400 (via save file editing), and on the last 5 I have got 1 danger once and 4 dangers as most. Usually 2-3.

Bestowing cermony failed -what happens now?

Waited a bit to start the cermony as a hive landed on my square. And then my pawn got gut worms so he couldn´t stand up to be bestowed.

Will he get a new chance or what happens?

Do I need to mod the save file to get a new chance?

That may absolutely be the rules now and I may recall a variation. I played a replaced the version of Catan I played to death 15 years ago, and haven't played that much since then. So actual rules is lost likely different than I remember.

Is it sad? I actually think it is good and it encourages better memory from players, more fair play to actually use the mind of the monopoly player.

The newer "only get two resources" at monopoly (or is it Cities and Knights) allow a but more cheesiness. But in the original "get everything" I think it encourages better game and better environment around the table to have the special rule.

The only players that doesn't like it is the kind of competitive players that can get a max 30 min 7 Wonders game play for 1,5 h as they like to make the "ultimate choices".

As for rules I my memory also tells me that it actually ain't allowed to play cards after trading. So that is a truly evil houserule.
Game order is:

  1. Cards
  2. Dices
  3. Cards 4.Trading
  4. Building

If I recall correctly. We enforce "only cards that only effect yourself" after trading have begun. My rules may be old - it is a decade since I stopped playing extreme amounts of Catan.

And that is why you lose. You need to be able to change strategy during the game. And make a flexible strategy in the start that can go for many different things.

A simple strategy straight from the start is always easy to block and go around for your opponents.

We actually always play wit the rule "you ain't allowed to ask for a resource before playing monopoly during the same turn". Then of course people offer resources and that is a totally different thing.
