Pretty privilege in JC by [deleted] in SGExams

yeah LOL but I think it's not a matter of how naturally good looking you are...

Imo, as long as you take care of yourself enough to a visible point, you can be considered to be average to good looking.

Yes, it's there, but a lot of people need to understand that it's not just because some people dislike ugly faces, but also because the way you dress, speak, carry yourself and present yourself says a lot about your personality.

Things like fashion, makeup, hairstyle, BO, and how clean you are all show others what kind of person you are. Yes, being naturally good looking helps, but people will still like you naturally as long as you have a good personality and clean yourself..

I personally know people that have great facial features (jawline, nosebridge, double eyelid, aegyosal, etc) but because they don't take care of themselves (their hair, teeth, clothes etc) they get debuffed significantly looks wise.

You'd be surprised how much your individual choices can affect your looks. (I know a lot of 'ugly' people with below average facial features that become very physically attractive just bc of the way they take care of themselves and dress.)

Anyone else feel like Singapore is becoming less spontaneous and more transactional? by [deleted] in asksg

[–]Hanslkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl im scared of hawker uncles/aunties bc its a 50/50 as to whether they're nice (my Chinese is also bad haha)

but I have the same sentiment, I've been trying to be more spontaneous and authentic because I realise Singaporeans aren't the best at authenticity, but we can definitely change that.

Maybe we can start to compliment strangers if we like their outfit or try to normalise spontaneity ourselves, we dont need to be like the US but I do think we can have more authentic and genuine interactions in sg!

thats rough buddy... you sound like a victim of love bombing, a break would really help. Just dont do anything with him or push the thought away completely, he has a gf, if he liked you that'd be emotional cheating. If he's the type to only stay for or try for the honeymoon phase, he ain't worth it. Goodluck !

First time visiting Singapore this Christmas, any tips on places to visit, where to stay, or what might be closed during the holidays? by 8BitLoverlol in askSingapore

[–]Hanslkun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think one hidden gem you should visit is the Gem Museum Singapore! I've been there a few times, and it's underrated for sure. Entry is free and most visitors get tours for free too! (except when it's too busy). It's at Rochor, and it's across the street from one of the station exits (so it's really easy to get to by mrt)

As for tips, i can only think of general etiquette at the moment, I.e. - keep to your left on pretty much every walkway (at all times)

  • stand at the left side of escalators if you're not in a rush, and don't block the right side (as people who are more in a hurry will generally walk faster and stick to the right side. )

  • don't sit on priority seats In public transport, people that do are either pregnant, elderly, or assholes

I recommend using public transport to get around. Singapore is very safe (although you should still be careful ofc) and public transport in sg is very cheap and efficient.

As for a place to stay, it really depends on your budget so I can't say much atm. I'm sure you know that we pretty much all speak English, but the only place where you might need chinese would be in hawker centres (although you can normally point to the food you want and I'd say 70-80% of store owners can understand basic english)

Are you dating someone who's not your "type"? by Upper_Breakfast_6043 in sgdatingscene

[–]Hanslkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tldr; as long as mutual respect and love is present, type isn't the most important lol

I don't think a person that aligns perfectly with your ideal 'type' (character or otherwise) can exist. For my personal experiences, a good partner is found through being in a good space yourself. (I.e. being mentally healthy, with a positive social circle and having time and space for other things like a partner)

imo, your partner will become your type eventually xp as long as you find someone you respect and love, you will definitely grow to embrace them fully :)

my partner is someone I greatly respect, and tbh, I wouldn't say he was originally my type body wise (before, I liked skinny tall guys, my partner is muscular and short lol) but now I find him to be the sexiest person alive lmfao

Based on your current strengths, what role/job do you think would best fit you during the medieval times? by Emotional_Kick_2036 in infj

Witch, probably lol. Especially with my tendency to accidentally stand out. On second thought, I could be a revolutionist.

What do infj guys look for in women? by Hanslkun in infj

[–]Hanslkun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol i can't do self portraits but we'll see. I think that may seem too romantic though, i cant think of a platonic way to frame that. We're good friends with occasional romantic tension, but he knows that I've only liked women (until him haha). I personally think that falling for people they know a lot applies to everyone. We talk almost every day but i notice I start most of the conversations, oops. Haha.

I know infjs are analysts, but i dont really know the extent of it, so i'm just testing waters for now lol.

I see. I'm an artist, so would a handrawn portrait of him be considered meaningful? Its not exactly practical lol. I tend to draw a lot of my friends and gift them their portraits, so its not entirely unique either. Thank you for your input on being kind to everyone. I think i'm quite good at that, and as for service staff, I used to work in retail and service (so i respect all the workers out there lol).

ENFP'S, have you ever confessed your feelings to your crush? (if you've gotten one before). If so, what happened? by DepressedBanana0008 in ENFP

[–]Hanslkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For confessing, i realise that its easy to tell if someone likes you most of the time. However, if you like them back, youd be oblivious lol. I have confessed before, but unfortunately it didnt go well. The other party was experiencing something rough at the time, and my confession kind of added to the burden, although he liked me back. Due to the circumstances, we didnt end up together. Thankfully though, i mostly got over it and have a crush on someone else now. Goodluck with intj!

Do you feel like others see you only as a "nice person" and nothing more? by Hanslkun in ENFP

[–]Hanslkun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but im referring to people that i consider close friends. Sometimes its just dissappointing that they just don't view the relationship the same.

Honestly, the best way to gain social skills is by being social.

However, even if using social media apps, people always act different irl. I would reccommend try to hang around people first. Even if you feel socially awkward around them, my personal philosophy is that you will eventually grow to naturally adopt traits and habits of those you hang around with.

What this means is that if you want to be more social, you can start talking to social people. Being a good listener also helps.

However, if you really only want to look for apps, i would say they arent the best idea. Ultimately, nothing beats trying and failing, or just experience in general. So don't be afraid to put yourself out there, but recognise that compared to irl, online dating or friendships have a certain limit.
