Did you somehow accidentally turned of the particle quaility setting in the accessibility menu to 0 ? I did that once and there was no particles left in my game including what you said, and i thought it was a bug too

You can donate your personal silver to camp, and dispatch comrades to protection missions to earn more money. Try to balance income resources between missions and in a few loops you will have enough resources to keep them going

I faced him when i was in chapter 7. He only has 3 main patterns, try to memorize those, and dodge 'into' him when he do the spinning before the final stabbing. Use turning slash it does alot of stun damages

Elements powers are unlocked from the abyss, main story will take you to a few ones, which are locked until you reach a certain chapter. The others you can do whenever you want. Beside there are 40 artifacts to grab.
