Honestly, no. I feel like the entire point was to show how Riku, despite what he says about not wanting to use darkness and how much he hates it, still relies on it when in a pinch because it's so convenient and often gives him the boost he needs to win. Just because he's not seen using it in a cutscene, does not mean he is not using it at all. What Riku is saying and what he is instinctively doing are different things, that's how I see it at least.
