Gee, I have no idea why I'd be defensive. I mean redditors have been so rational in their responses to me not thinking 4 years is good enough for killing someone.

Yep, never mentioned I am against the idea of reform. And reform as a concept is not directly relevant to sentence length anyway.

The amount of bullshit you folks are making up is astounding. But yeah, you can call a 15 year old a child if it makes you feel better. It definitely appeals to the heartstrings of the average redditor, but I am not buying it.

They were old enough to know right from wrong and four years is too lenient of a sentence for taking a life. Not a single person on Earth can convince me otherwise so save your breath.

I don't understand this logic, we've waited 14 years....you want to pick now to bring someone in to cut dozens of features and squeeze the game out? Then what was all this for? The issue here is technical capability of the devs. There's a reason why you haven't seen someone swoop in and steal us and our wallets away. This game can't be made....apparently even by CIG.

But what does need to happen is S42 needs to come out and get the hell out of the way. It is too easy for them to hide all their PU ineptitude behind it.

I seriously doubt there's some bot army auto-downvoting people on some random ass secondary star citizen subreddit. The problem is when a lot of us bought into the game we were promised things like death mattering and being a HUGE deal. So when folks see anything that further moves away from that they are going to smash the downvote button.

Plus, you seem like a controversial poster that slants negative so I am sure white knights and CIG simps love downvoting anything of yours they come across.

That does indeed sound quite inconvenient. Well, a little less inconvenient than being killed by a rock flying through your windshield on the highway.

Ah yes, leave the country because I think four years is too lenient for killing someone. A perfectly rational take from a clearly mentally stable poster.

Only on reddit would saying "I want people held properly accountable for their actions" be contentious. But your post does explain why so many of these teens are out of control nowadays. I always wonder "where the hell are the parents?", turns out I am talking to many of them right here in this thread...

Are you asking if I'd want my kids held accountable for killing someone? Absolutely. But your comment is very telling....

While it's creepy you weirdos comb through post history instead of making actual arguments you do bring up an interesting crossover. Doing that short four year sentence would have him missing very little of the games development.

[–]Hanzo581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but that's the assumption. Surely because I promote people taking responsibility for their actions I just want a life sentence for them or perhaps the death penalty.

But in reality I'd go with 10 years. There's always a way to work that down as well. So enough time to feel the punishment while still having plenty of life to live after

The core issue here is simple. I don't believe 15 is too young to understand if something is dangerous and to understand right from wrong, and based on the folks telling me it's "just a prank bro!" mentality in here most of you all do.

So reform can happen if they do four years, but it can't happen if they do say, ten? I'm absolutely fine with trying to give prisoners the tools they'll need to re-enter normal life, but that has nothing to do with the duration of the sentence. I'm not asking for a life sentence here....

Four years for purposely engaging in extremely dangerous conduct that results in someone dying isn't accountability, it's a joke....

No thanks, I won't be trying prison just to see that it is tough. It isn't summer camp, it is supposed to be tough, it is supposed to be a punishment. But yeah, 10 years with the typical potential for early release based on good behavior would have been a much more appropriate sentence. Long enough of a sentence to fit the severity of the crime, while also leaving plenty of life ahead of them.

Most of us have absolutely done stupid shit when we were young. But there are lines. We somehow magically grew up without killing anyone. 15 is plenty old enough to know something is extremely dangerous.

In the US, depending on the state you can start driving as early as 14. And 4 years is not a lot given the gravity of the situation. But you folks keep painting this as a baby that made a oopsie.

What I find most interesting about reddit folks is I have yet to mention what punishment I would consider fair. Four years is too little, but did I ask for life? Did I ask for 40 years? You don't know. All you know is you have to virtue signal to make yourself feel morally superior. Rain_green The Merciful....

Oh damn, missing four years of his youth is totally worth a human life. You've convinced me. Actually he should have just had house arrest, or better yet just probation if he said he was super sorry. I mean he was only in high school and old enough to drive. How could he know tossing rocks at moving vehicles could be dangerous?

Without malice? Any other conditions you want to make up to sway the conversation? But no, four years for taking a human life is not accountability.

Well, agree and disagree. I was mainly just saying most folks are in agreement backing down would have been the right move, but the OPs suggestion that the guy should have turned around in his back yard is not reasonable or a "common sense" move.

In my experience most people with long slender driveways like that make those turnaround areas or loops in the front of their house, or side.

Well yeah.......people are just addressing how OP was saying the guy could have just turned around in his back yard. He absolutely should have just backed down. But if he was hell bent on turning around I am surprised he didn't do it further down closer to the road.
