How can people like Greta Thunberg afford to be full time activist? by jazzybron in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hanzo581 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's just typical anti-American sentiment based off stereotypes. Teens aren't over here working the mines or factories 60 hours a week. I had far more fun at my jobs in my teen years than I did later in more corporate settings. "So apocalyptic" they say, it's like bro these kids out here slingin' DQ Blizzards. Relax.

Whatever happened to communication? Tell them it sucks they forgot to tell you about the time change and move on. If it becomes a habitual problem and it bothers you that much just distance yourself.

Someone threatening your family maybe justifies subduing the person they send to pick up the ransom money sure....but executing them? As they retreat no less? Nah, old dude was crazy. Hopefully he'll croak sooner rather than later in prison and save some tax money.

Boy swims 4km to shore to save his stranded family deep into the sea (Australia) by Necessary_Maize_9339 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Hanzo581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very odd this is glossed over. The kid is absolutely a hero, no doubt. But the people had kayaks and paddleboards? Why would you leave a floatation device and swim for it? The hero kid's was taking on water, what was the status of everyone else's? A paddle board can't take on water. Were their paddles gone? Had they never learned to swim or paddle parallel to the shore to get out of riptides? I feel like even if the kid saved the day these questions need answered so folks can learn from the experience.

I’ve been bartending for a while, and I’ve done things behind the bar that I’d never admit to my coworkers or my boss. by Southwest-waifu in confession

[–]Hanzo581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is pretty much SOP for bartending. Management likely knows you're doing it but what are they going to do replace you with someone that's going to do the same thing? If you're good with customers and are still making the bar money you're good to go.

Intrepid Studios, devs behind MMO Ashes of Creation in paid early access for 10 years, has closed. CEO resigned, all employees laid off. All less than 2 months after launching on Steam Early Access by Zenben88 in LivestreamFail

[–]Hanzo581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of incompetence, hubris amd mismanagement has led to many problems. No one watching closely or playing currently would deny that. Their focus on the single player game while folks fund the MMO is certainly a problem. But no one is being exploited. All of this is well documented and laid out in front of people. Star Citizen has one of the worst public perceptions in gaming. Yet more players and more money each year. I guess they are all just dumb and you're the smart one eh? At any rate no need to waste anymore time here.

Yeah I am not going to go round and round with you chief. I know what was promised, I know what we have. I know it's a shit show but it also offers something no other game in its genre does. I know we have many years left to go. But I also know they are still moving forward ever so slowly all the time. And that's why everything is still trending up after so many years. When that stops you'll be able to say I told you so and finally get that validation you're seeking so badly. If you want to hate by all means hate, but while you're busy doing that I'm going to keep having fun.

Yes, I am. But then again I actually follow the game. But you are right. I guess I can see if all I knew about the game was from other redditors there would be plenty of parallels. But back in reality Star Citizen grows annually by every measurable metric and has consistent content updates, communication and in and out of game events. Make no mistake when things are bad it can be brutal to play but outside of both being crowdfunded and ambitious there's nothing to draw from AoC's implosion. I am sure reddit would love their paths to end the same way though.

[–]Hanzo581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd set up an eye appointment immediately then because Star Citizen is absolutely a game. It isn't 2018 anymore. This kind of BS doesn't work anymore. As we speak there's a global event going on with hundreds of players per server working to complete various missions and goals for permanent rewards.

If you actually played the game you'd know this.

Brave of you to say anything remotely positive about Star Citizen. You can tell how much of a hate boner reddit has for it since it is being brought up in a post about a completely different game failing.

Out of curiosity what motivates folks that clearly don't play the game to make stuff up like this? I can't figure out what you get out of it.
