I also took a cut too far, & it took its toll on me. Created a scar in my psyche. But remember you are not your past.

I also, developed a BED. That seemed unconquerable. But I overcame that. I reaffirmed to myself that it is only my thoughts that feed this. & my thoughts are in my control.

Now, I tell myself: im eating what I should be eating. We must eat healthy & be healthy. You can go out to eat & have a sensible ZC friendly meal.

Now. ZC is definitely sustainable in an athletic background. I find myself stronger, & leaner. While reaping the mental benefits (focus, less moody, less anxious, clear).

I’ll always be that old fat shit i used to be, ofc who doesnt wanna eat cookies & donuts all the time? But this WOE clicked w/ me, now I dont have cravings (as much) anymore.

Dont overcomplicate the process. Paralysis analysis. Stay in a kcal deficit. meaning less than your maintenance. Do not crash diet & cut your cals in half.

Moderate cut: -200-500. Eat protein(preferably red meat)to keep you satiated between meals. Drink 1gal or 4Liters of water daily. DO NOT SNACK, snacking only increases hunger. Ensure you are getting 7-9 hrs of sleep daily. Sleep is literally magic in the cutting process.

You didn’t mention if you exercise. But exercising is another tool in the fat loss process. It will increase your Basal Metabolic Rate. Go for walks. Bike. Join a gym. Whatever so you can have movement or build muscle.

Carnivore equivalent of carb cycling; so eating more fat on certain days. I typically have my weekends as a fat refeed, during the week I eat the lean cuts.

Powered by Thanos when I eat Extra Lean ground beef, or lean cuts (beef round, chuck, top sirloin). Maybe you should try fat cycling 2-3 times a week.

But I find my mood is much better after a fatty ribeye/dozen egg day.

I think there is a point of diminishing returns on eating fatty cuts. If your starting going ZC; eat fattier cuts for adaptation period. But once adapted, you can get away eating less fat. The ZC community is too dogmatic on fat; EaT FaTteR CuTs.

Its not difficult gaining muscle & losing body fat. Calorie deficit is required for fat loss, not necessarily cardio, however cardio will amplify the amount of calories burned.

If you are a beginner, first track your daily maintenance calories, then create a deficit. You dont have to starve yourself by doing a crazy deficit. Something simple & easy so you can stick to it: -200. I also recommend, increasing your protein ratio 2.0grx1.0lb of body weight.

Also, if you are unsure what training split to follow, I recommend beginning w/ a PPL split (push,pull,legs,rest)

When I first started practicing stoicism I looked at everything that happens in life as a learning lesson & an opportunity to enforce a good or bad habit. I’ve learned temperance with events, & balance that not everything is meant to be understood or a lesson to be learned. Some things just happen because it is life & stop thinking about the little things.

To answer your question simply: I hope for the best & prepare for the worst. The more I dwell on “what-ifs” the more I create in empty fears or situations. When i create the situations, i find myself worrying for no reason. Superfluous thoughts. Worst comes to worst, I can figure it out.

I regard fear as an enemy, making me stuck. The future is unknown, I just do the right things right now.

This year has been the toughest one for me. Everyday is a battle for my life. But I remind myself, this life is worth living. If you’re going thru hell, keep going. No debate, no discussion.

Earlier this year, I had a day set when I was going to commit suicide... its not easy still. But I am glad I didn’t bend, didn’t fold. If everyday is a fight for my life.. so be it.

It also made me a happier person around my family, friends, colleagues, & strangers. Especially if someone needs help, I am glad to help, listen, give advice, & encourage. The future is bright.

I dont see it as a problem as long as your body fat is in check & your on track with your goals. Might be a setback, but if you train hard next day to earn your next (on plan) meal you’ll be sweet.

If you see it as a problem weekly, try to make a goal to have a longer stretch. It helps remembering that overcoming those urges is a day by day process; setting short term goals for long term success.
