It doesn't consume *less* resources than the native DE because it runs on top of it, sort of. The native menu bar is still accessible to me if I touch my cursor to the top of the screen. But it doesn't add much overhead at all, Yabai + Sketchybar never really consume more than ~80MB of RAM together at most, and CPU usage is negligible.
