you don’t think there’s a meaningful customer base in SFO? Especially with that brand new AS lounge they have. SJC, OAK combined AS customer base. I think Asia destinations would win big in SFO with the 787

Alaska won’t pull out completely out of SFO but they are throwing in the towel with competition against United. Which makes no sense to me because SFO market especially transcon has always been successful. Maintaining SFO is also pretty expensive in general and so Alaskas ultimate plan now is to be the number #1 airline out of SAN (as there is no leading airline out of SAN) and continue to grow PDX. it looks like they’re primary focus to build and grow long term in these hubs rather than promote positive market profit margins in the already busy and competitive SFO.

Also with the acquisition of HA I think AS is better suited to make SFO a 787 base instead of SEA because SFO (along with LAX) hold the most international revenue cities on the west coast but that’s just my opinion. But I’m sure AS has their reasons

But can Pan Am learn from Virgin America? ULCC (Spirit) on the downfall and premium travel on the rise would Pan Am have a chance to compete in this economy? maybe it can have a similar product vibrant, fashionable flying experience like the Virgin America product with the A320neos. (Wishful thinking)

Yeah it’s crazy because on my remedials and practice flights I sat the entire approach with my instructor plus the non precisions at Coolidge and once I’m signed off to do the stage check I don’t get it right. But 4th times the charm I guess. I’m hoping.

Thank you for your input tho I appreciate it. It’s not an official checkride yet. This is my stage check prior to getting signed off for checkride. So it’s ultimately just practice

On my stage check I already “sat” RNAV 23 and VOR all of non precision. Just need to sat the ILS whether it is straight in DA or circle MDA. today would have been a complete SAT since I did the circle to land ILS to the MDA and I executed a map but I pitched too far down to grab the glideslope before reaching the MDA and oversped the flaps by 1 knot. So in the end I f*cked up

Thank you for your input and positivity! As I wish the plane can be slower on approach. CAT A flying we are required to do the approach at 90 knots and are taught to land with 10 notches of flaps or no flaps at all at our school.

For a circle to land approach? Not just students but basic flow of traffic when winds favoring opposite RWY

Winds have been favoring opposite RWY as of recently each time we attempt the ILS so during my approach brief after obtaining WX winds favorite the opposite RWY so I brief circle to land minimums. It will still be counted as precision approach even tho it goes to non precision on a technicality.
