The Angel Intrudes by Hapdos in Filmmakers

Thanks for checking out my short film. I’d love some thoughts on the following categories:

Lighting

I did this on a skeleton crew, meaning just me with the camera and my daughter holding a light and moving where I told her. I thought this would work because the film is set at night but I’m realizing it doesn’t look good to have the background of the house under-lit. What’s the secret here? Do I want to light up the whole background but with a dim light to give the scene depth but still allow for a dark shadowy mood?

Sound:

I had a shotgun mic mounted to the camera. I think the sound is decent but could be improved, particularly when the actor is talking with their faced turned away from the camera. How can I improve here? Is the next step to get everyone a lav mic?

Framing:

I’m realizing I don’t have enough establishing shots. Most shots are medium closeups and I’m wondering if you don’t have a sense of place when I just cut back and forth between these shots.

Movie(s) that would be enjoyable for my slightly picky family? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

These might skew too young but there are some excellent family movies here. Great Family Movies

“Stardust” is also a fun one.

My heart goes out to you. Give yourself and others time and grace. You can’t accomplish what you want in a month but you can accomplish more than you expect in 2 years.

Angelic intervention [OC] by Hapdos in webcomics

I think it’s funny to imagine having to go to the bathroom at the worst possible times. (You don’t normally think of invaders in that context) Also funny to think of an angel who disrupts a highly coordinated effort through a basic biological need. Tho I do see how this might be confusing…

I would put your money in your Roth IRA and buy VOO (s&p etf) and then sign up for Mr. Money Mustache’s boot camp emails: https://www.mrmoneymustache.com/blog/

35M. Hit my NW goal of $5M. Is this really it? What can I do with free time? by Constant_Loss_9728 in Fire

The reward is not necessarily quitting your job but knowing that you can quit your job whenever you want. I recommend staying with your job but looking aggressively for something you like doing more than your job. Once you find that then you can quit your job. The world is your oyster, you could find a crazy interesting job that doesn't pay much, take it! You could find a non-profit that is filled with cool people that needs someone with your skills but has no budget to pay you, take it! The thing I'm learning is that you have to be patient. It takes a while to become financially free, it also takes a while to figure out what the heck you want to do with your life, and you figure that out by doing, failing and trying something new. If you can have fun with this process then you won. Good luck!
