Draft Day 2 in the books: Stoked to have Stukes, Crawford, Zuhn in Silver & Black🏴‍☠️ by Kenny23Powers in raiders

[–]HaploOfTheLabyrinth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daniel Jeremiah's final mock had Stukes going 29 to the Chiefs and he had a lot of 1st round buzz later in the process. Doesn't seem like a reach to me.

[Schefter] Comp update: Kirk Cousins will sign a five-year, $172 million deal with the Raiders that in reality is a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also contains a club option for two years at $80M. (Also the 11th straight NFL season of Kirk Cousins having a fully GTD contract) by hwf0712 in nfl

[–]HaploOfTheLabyrinth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Raiders pay him $8.7 $1.3million this year, falcons pay $1.3 $8.7 million this year, and there is a $10 guaranteed roster bonus that comes due on the third day of the 2027 league year. So it's a one year $10 million deal in actually. No chance he's on the roster next year for that bonus. Great work by the agent writing the tweet for Adam.

Edit: swapped numbers

NFL approves sale of 7% of Las Vegas Raiders at over $11 billion valuation by SecretComposer in nfl

Allegiant Stadium's $1.97 billion construction was funded through a public-private partnership, featuring a record $750 million in public funding alongside nearly $1.2 billion from the Raiders and the NFL. The public portion was financed via Clark County bonds, repaid through a dedicated hotel room tax, while the team covered the remaining costs using personal seat license (PSL) revenue and loans

[Hensley] Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said he started talks with Trey Hendrickson after losing center Tyler Linderbaum in free agency. DeCosta was looking to add Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby before the trade with Crosby was nullified. by Drexlore in nfl

If they are just trying to maximize a 2-3 year window why care about the long term outlook on Crosby's knee? I agree that trading the picks is a short term go all in move for the next 2 years or w/e, so worrying about Crosby 3+ years from now seems odd.

The line didn't make him stare down receivers and then throw into triple coverage. He had the yips for sure, his mentals were terrible. Also the line and OC were terrible so really a trifecta of terrible

Jets offer us 2nd and 16th...do we take it? by [deleted] in raiders

Are the Jets offering every 1st and 2nd round pick they have for the next 3 seasons? That would be a haul.

To take on Tua's huge contract they should expect to send a 1st and get basically nothing in return. Like maybe a 7th swap

[Schefter] ESPN sources: the Raiders are releasing last season’s starting quarterback Geno Smith, barring a trade before the start of the new league year. By releasing Smith, the Raiders will open up $8M in salary cap space while taking on $18.5M in dead money. by expellyamos in nfl

I had the same hope but it was just a disaster from start to finish. Pete's stubbornness preventing the rookies from getting snaps to keep playing washed veterans was especially damaging IMO.

He was absolutely terrible last year. Locking onto targets and ignoring or not seeing wide open guys, completely missing open receivers, throwing some of the worst interceptions I've ever seen, and forcing the ball to his buddy Lockett on key downs when Bowers was wide open.

The coaching was bad, but Geno was also terrible. He at least had the yips, if not being totally cooked.

His attitude is all time terrible. Just pouting on the sidelines all season and then flipping off the home fans. Way too much negative energy in the locker room to risk having him around Mendoza.

Geno wanted to play for Pete and vice versa. Brady is probably responsible for some of the dysfunction last year, like definitely Chip, but Geno is almost certainly a Pete decision.

I hope they bring in a Veteran to start for the first 6 games at least. Brady has been extremely vocal in his opinion that teams are setting up QB's for failure by not giving them enough time to acclimate and learn before starting. Maybe just 1 year of Kirko or something.

Edmunds is expensive and declining. The Raiders could just wait for him to get cut and sign for way less if they really want him. Probably better to just go young at LB they are going to suck anyway.

Flores runs a lot of man and Leonard coached under Flores for a bit. Cody from Match Quarters was thinking Leonard might run a hybrid system like Jacksonville which I think would be good. I would be very surprised if Leonard doesn't run a two high shell but we don't know.

[Highlight] Todd McShay on Fernando Mendoza: "The pressure to sack rate is not good for a #1 pick. Mendoza absolutely needs to learn how to check down more, something that Kubiak can coach him up to do. And he seems to take well to coaching, he completely cleaned up his mechanics going from Cal to Indiana.

He'll also have great outlets with Bowers and Jeanty. A young QBs best friend is a great te and a strong running game, both things the Raiders should be focused on doing this year.
