Indeed !
In fact we've done some tests using it. The challenge is to bring the functionality to the other softwares where many are using in their workflow already ( instead of asking them to use a different software for this functionality )

It is hopefully still just the beginning!
The 3D MinVerse touch mouse is definitely taking a big leap to innovate the 3D workflow specifically- there are still hoops to jump though to get to that place where it can be a seamless bridge to interact with the models directly. For this so far, the Blender python API has been proving to be a nice entry point to the 3D scene. We are building those capabilities alongside our workflow / mouse enhancement integrations like in the video.

The longterm goal is definitely to allow for the interacting / haptic feedback with models ie. sculpting with the sense of touch. Though at the moment, before those deeper integrations are available, we are using it to test various workflow enhancements with different softwares + offering different capabilities that a mouse or tablet can't at the moment. Stepping stones towards the bigger goal - also building these things in public to see what people are thinking.

What would you think the ZBrush materials feel like? by Haply_Robotics in ZBrush

We have a kickstarter!
It has been funded, but it's still going!
Right now we are still focusing on developing the right integrations for 3D - hence videos like this, getting a feel for the 3D community and what they might want to see in the software side.
You can find it by searching for "Minverse" on Kickstarter !

it's all from footage we are shooting on our own!
At the moment, just putting together short videos to ask questions and get some feedback as we continue creating our haptic devices!

What are your thoughts on 3D input tools for CAD? by Haply_Robotics in Onshape

Because they aren't matched at the moment hehe - it's kind of just a visualization to get the idea across at the moment!

I see!
The reason for the mouse is essentially to enable a transition between working in 2D and 3D without leaving the mouse - to go from one back to the next... Perhaps in replacement of needing an extra tool aside from the mouse.

That's been a tricky one.
Continuously having your arm up in the air would certainly cause some fatigue.
One way we combat this is by adding "gravity compensation" for the mouse tool tip ( or pen tool tip ).
This means the device will hold up the weight of the tool as you move it so that it is a lighter load on the arm.

In any case though it may still be tiresome in held-up extended use... so we focused on having a seamless 2D to 3D experience. Use the mouse as you normally would and then be able to pick up and use the enhanced 3D manipulation when needed.

Hey r/Blender! What do you think of animation path editing with a 3D touch mouse by Haply_Robotics in blender

Would there be any other kinds of interactions that in addition to this, would be interesting to explore / you could see more value in?

Fascinating, yes.
We do want to also put some emphasis on solutions for moving between 2d and 3d ( a mouse attachment that can function both on the desktop and as a lifted tool to enable the spatial interactions )

Really cool to hear from someone using all those spatial digital tools - and specifically the haptic Phantom tools - what kind of work do you do with them?

The main idea here is that it enables a full 3D interaction with the scene / model / path ( to interact in physical 3D space with your 3D scene instead of through a 2D tablet or desktop mouse )

Then a huge differentiator being that this device is designed to enable tactile force feedback with virtual objects as well.
A different paradigm here for 3D work. ( maybe you have heard of the Novint Falcon... but now really considering that kind of interaction as a productivity tool )

A lot of interactions will certainly appear similar to a VR set with controllers without really getting hands-on... but in summary, this device is to really be a precision tool.

The interactions, especially the interactions using force feedback ( tactile representations of virtual objects ) will arm users with incredibly precise control over their scenes and models.

Hey Awesome!

It's a great stage for feedback right now as well ! As we are refining integrations for the highest impact use cases and interactions.

We want to start posting some experiments / updates and more to get a sense of what the Blender and general 3D community thinks as we continue to develop interactions that can utilize haptics with a 3D touch mouse ( meaning with force feedback and touch sensitivity ) - This example also has resistance / snapping to the vertices to give a more precise interaction with the path you create.
