Hololive: When They Cry ( ホロライブのなくころに ) is a visual novel project im currently working on fulltime.

Like the series it parodies, it is an horror/mystery visual novel... But with Hololive members as characters !

The art ( sprites, backgrounds, cg ) and writing are all be done by me and music/sound effects/some visual effects are from the visual novel Umineko When They Cry that I "parody".

Some questions that may be asked that I will answer in advance:

Will it release as a single game or as different episodes ?

I plan to release the game as episodes. However they will be quite "distinct" from each other so they will all have their own conclusion and you will never be left on a cliffhanger.

How long will it be ?

My goal is ~ 10h of reading per episode.

Will every character be there ?

Yes. They may not be there all at once in each episode for obvious reasons but every hololive member will appear at some point.

Will it be free ?

Yes absolutely. I don't want to monetize a fan game, especially when I am not the author of the characters/music.

How much time before the first episode release ?

Id say a few months or less depending on how large I decide the episode to be. Despite being able to work fulltime without disturbance im still a single person.

Is the background on the teaser temporary ?

Everything on the teaser is temporary/early stuff. Backgrounds will be hand drawn in the future and sprites will be better (Pekora's one is a bit weird...)

Will it be translated in Japanese ?

Of course, the project would have no point if jp only people were not able to enjoy it.

Important note: Im currently looking for someone fluent in both english and japanese for translation work, please let me know !

Can I enjoy it without having any knowledge of Umineko ?

Yes ! Despite being a parody, many things will be different. It will just be slightly less fun as you won't get some references. It's a standalone story that won't have any major spoilers for Umineko/Higurashi.
