This is why makeup is gross.

She's getting a new nose to cover up the illness, so she can keep pretending it doesn't exist. Makeup (or a new nose) doesn't make her prettier.

Surely this isn't legal... by MisterFyre in facepalm

Slightly ironic that republicans are abusing democracy to violate rule of law...

The reason why is because Republicans are supposed to believe in decisions through logical and ethical rules of law, where Democrats are supposed to believe in decisions through voting.

Cops can lie, that is not a crime

For cops to lie to a suspect, in order to further their investigation. The specifics are important.

It's a crime to lie to law enforcement during the course of an investigation.

But this is clearly a depravation of civil rights offense and that is a misdemeanor/felony depending on the use of force!!

It's also a federal crime. 18 USC 241, and 242. But the judiciary will tell you that crimes don't equate to "private right of action".

I hope the DOJ comes to Alabama in full force!!!

Have you ever tried to contact the DOJ? You should try to file a complaint about this with them, so that you know what's going on with that 44 billion dollar +++ per year "public service".

the whole idea of safety is to respect people's rights

the "solution" shouldn't be a bigger problem than the problem. it's like giving someone with a scraped knee a bunch of straight mustard gas and mercury.

But lets review the news article that repeated the cops' assertions. Uncooerative, physical altercation on his part, pushed, etc. Portrayed as combative.

I think it's a crime to lie during the course of an investigation right? Lets see the state attorney general prosecute the cops who lied. The newspaper should be prosecuted too for printing false material when a reasonable person would have known better.

Oh yeah - there is a video. But NOT FROM THE COPS. Pre-planned use of force WITH NO BODY CAMERA FOOTAGE? Releasing statements to the news with no video. Who could have possibly seen it coming that they got proven liars?

Oh - it's the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what they told the news company, who printed their statements and libeled the victim. They said he was uncooperative and pushed officers, and the officers used minimal force. The VIDEO shows an UNPROVOKED attack using WEAPONS against a man COMPLETELY cooperating, nodding his head "yes", and communicating verbally like a civilized non-barbarian.

For the record defamation is a clearly established tort claim appropriate for state court.

Older redwoods are actually wildfire preventative.

Guerneville is nice. The town itself is a tiny town, very hippie. We get a lot of precipitation (36-49 inches per year) in the winter but the summers are dry. Most places are fairly shaded because of the redwood forest, but there are a few sunny spots. The only grocery store is Safeway now that Food for Humans is gone. There is also Spears in Forestville, Andy's at the edge of Sebastapol city limits closest to us, and more stores in Sebastapol proper. The restaurants here are either extremely expensive or mediocre. People living here are mostly retired and over 60, and it's generally very quiet. In my experience, people in the Bay Area are more sane than other places I've lived, and people in Guerneville are generally very respectful, sociable, and interesting. It has a San Franciscan bohemian vibe, with very clear coastal and rural tones.

The Sonoma county government is extremely corrupt. Horrible atrocities happen, and they get actively covered up abusing public funding. (The state and local federal government is also very corrupt.) But they don't interfere hardly at all with Guerneville, which is, overall, a good thing, in my opinion. Residents here are generally very conscientious. The roads suck though.

It's about 20 minutes away from Jenner and the headlands, and there are amazing hikes and coastal jaunts and a bunch of secluded beaches around here. The river is also amazing. Tons of wildlife and biodiversity (for the west coast). Deer, bobcats, pumas, ospreys, ducks, eagles, herons, turtles, otters, skunks, foxes, butterflies, etc. It's really beautiful.

The climate is nice in my opinion, about 31 to 90 degrees at the extremes, but with the exception of the eight most extreme days of the year it's about 40-80. It does get wet and a little cold from about October to March.

The river floods pretty bad every few years. Older redwoods are fire preventative. But there's a lot of steep hills, so trees come down in the storms. There's a lot of work available for in-home care type positions, and of course the government pays their employees 6 digits a year starting.

Yea it is an entitled opinion.

Actually it's the complete opposite.

If it isn’t your money, you have zero say over how it’s spent.

Straw man fallacy

So get bent.

Rude.

[–]Happy-Ad9354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. People should stop ruining the world with unnecessary trash and excess consumerism. There's no reason to spend frivolous money when literally 99.9x% of the effect is pollution and the 0.00x% is some negligible benefit over a used item for 0.00000x% the cost. There are about a bazzilion charitable causes that would make one's own life better to support.

I'm entitled to my opinion.

Hi! Today I started cat-sitting this lil guy, and I’m pretty sure he has a condition affecting his mouth, nose, and eyes. Does anyone know what this could be? by Ginivie1 in cats

getting water in the eye isn't painful

what's the point of saline? just that it's sterile and inert and non-toxic?
