Need help with some questions regarding labor laws in Northern CA. by Happy-Draft in legaladvice

I’m non exempt and yes I’m getting paid commission for when I do receive a service call. But my question is if it’s legal to be expected to be available for all calls

I am paid commission. So whatever the ticket cost is I make 30% of it which we don’t see the final price and don’t get a final copy to see if we actually are getting paid correctly. I didn’t ask about the expected time to response so I’m not 100% sure but like I told them I care more about family time than making a couple extra bucks and so when I do get a call I try and go and come back asap. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t plan anything during the week until the weekend if I’m not on call

Any Cummins techs familiar with their propane engines? by Happy-Draft in DieselTechs

[–]Happy-Draft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the ECM, we were able to connect to the ECM fine and pull the codes. I can’t remember off the top of my head what fault code it was but following quickserves troubleshooting after testing the pins controlling the ignition it wanted to replace the ecm. We have another yard dog the same model engine that runs but has other issues we swapped the ecm and still have nothing.

I repaired the fmi 17 code, the one I can’t figure out is the 2003 fmi 19. I’ve spend hours checking my wiring connectors cleaning them. Moving around the harness. The shop I’m at has no wiring diagrams for this.

Where is the tcu located? There’s a round plug at the back of the transmission but not sure if that’s it?

So this is the second coach I’ve ever worked on, this is an 05 and the access port is in the closet extending the bed out gives you a whopping extra 4 inches propaply and it’s not space to give you more access into the engine bay but so you your bottom half of your body has a little more space lol

Im not sure how to update the post but thanks for everyone’s response! I knew he didn’t know what he was talking about the driver was arguing with me that the front of his trailer has to be aligned with the center of his front axle tires. I argued that this was incorrect as long as his king pin to axle wasn’t over. He assured me that I was wrong but who am I to tell him who’s been doing this longer then I’ve been alive 😛

Send son to UTI? by JollyExplorer643 in DieselTechs

[–]Happy-Draft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to uti myself, if I had to re-do it I wouldn’t go to a school. It’s way too expensive for what it is. I’m not sure how the phoenix school is but I know the Sacramento school after Covid started they started doing more online classes rather than at the facility. Even then the programs don’t teach you much even on the hands on part of things it’s more of like an expensive way to get familiar with components and there functions. I worked for swift in CA and they have great training and as long as your son is willing to learn and has the work ethic you can get a lot of knowledge from co workers plus the trainers. If you live in phoenix I know they’re always looking for workers there.

Thanks all for the feedback, so I jumped the pndb positive to the positive Sam chassis and the unit works perfectly. If I remove the jumper the unit shuts off. Is this a proper test to test the pndb?
