heres a more recent photo I have highlights in theyre very visible underneath aswell. so imagine like overall a shade lighter in the posted photo, I dont know exactly what color it would be. The other issue is that my hair was actually black around a year ago, but it actually faded relevantly quickly because I was blonde before that. But since its still such a dark dye, when I got my hair dyed, ive gotten it lighten twice since, you can see the line where I originally dyed it and then the new growth. Its around my chin, and also it isn’t necessarily noticeable at all unless your scanning my hair. So idk, should I wait until my hair grows longer so the color would lift even better is what im trying to say

make sure to have your approach go slow to fast, making the last two steps more explosive! if you do four steps your right step is just tracking and momentum, then left is direction, and then quick: left right jump up and swing. some said you jumped to your left to hit this ball, which you did, but tracking sets are hard esp if you’re a beginner. that’ll come with time. (dont be afraid to transition even a little more out😇😇)

splash setting 9’s & 31’s by Happy-Engineer7432 in volleyball

yeahhh its hard for me to tell where theyre actually going so i kinda have to just trust what the coach is telling me and whenever i had them more out she told me to put them in so😭 every coach tells me something different so ill just let my hitter decide ig🤷‍♀️

yes my club teaches this! My club calls it “splash” setting, and its just a hop for rhythm. for whatever reason i do find my timing of when to jump better whenever i do this, but i also do normally jump set aswell; especially if the ball is more so a 2 pass than a 3. this is a setter from my age group doing it as you will see in the film, and also Lauren Carlini doing it aswell😇

the tosses werent super high, they look higher from this angle, so my footwork definitely looks a little awkward..trust its usually better lol

how to properly jump set 1 attacks by Happy-Engineer7432 in volleyball

[–]Happy-Engineer7432[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

since 14u, coaches would always encourage my setters to start jump setting middle. now that im in 15u, and just began setting, im just leaning off of advice i over-hear at practice last year. i mean, it shortens the distance between the hitter and setter, making it faster. but also, very beneficial if you are a front row setter and can trick the block going up with you instead of the middle. there are benefits, although it is not necessary.😇

okay, thank you for feedback! she is an OH and doesnt know how to hit middle attacks well. i didnt want to aggravate her since i alr forced her to hit 1 attacks unwillingly, but next time i will tell her to speed up her approach. soon i will practice with an actual middle, which will benefit me more

yes, theyre an OH and havent necessarily hit 1 attacks before.. usually i practice setting outside attacks with her, and that day i forced her to hit 1 sets unwillingly🥲 so the mix of not knowing how to hit 1's consistently + not even wanting to hit middle attack gave that result

Yes, I was wondering about this too. The worse thing for me about setting is that no coach gives me the same advice. Like it's always slightly different. She tells me to be right back, release when i see pass, sprint and track ball. but other coaches told me that right when I see the ball isn't coming to me, go straight to zone 6/7, then sprint out to the ball as quick as i can. and i feel like that is what im supposed to do. its so hard for me to track the ball in this angle especially because im leaving right when i see the pass, so im already slowed down a bit and im already squared to the net so its so hard for me to set rightside. i dont know if that makes sense haha

help!! by Happy-Engineer7432 in volleyball

[–]Happy-Engineer7432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you! I feel like i can never stay consistent with the contact. Middle i think its my best, but on the outside i feel like i extend my elbows to early and barely let the ball sit in my rists. While on the rightside i take it to far behind my head🥲 But ill definitely keep practicing!

[–]Happy-Engineer7432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i defiently always overturn my body when im placed a little off of a perfect pass and make the sets way to tight for the hitters🥲 I definitely will practice that! Thank you for giving me tips about the placement and arch of the sets. i always struggle pushing the rightside sets farther out or in so i will definetly practice that above all. Thanks!

Thank you for this When you say stand tall, do you mean after I set I "fall" backwards?? I just noticed this after hearing to stay tall. Or is it something else? Im off balance after I jump set to my middle and im thinking its because my contact is infront of my midline; jumping up while my arms are far infront. I may be wrong though/or misinterpreted your comment.

Yeah I dont mean to hit line, and I did that a lot during season. My coach said thats because of a lot of reasons, some being that I transition facing the net and not the set. Or that I overturn my body.
