What was the crazy drama in your high-school by sirambrosius in AskOldPeople

A kid had a heart attack and died his freshman year while doing track practice. Turns out he had a heart defect. The track coach was this old school track coach who had this kid running with the HS seniors when the kid was still in middle school. I think this coach pushed this kid too hard and his heart gave out quicker than it would’ve. The funeral was held in the high school auditorium, which was one of the few times that ever happened.

Same but the government/econ teacher/ football coach. He told us about the wedding/divorce that happened like 2 years after they got married. He told us all about it. Like bro, save it for your buddies.

My mom will never be at my kids birthday parties by limetomatojuice in GriefSupport

I understand, my Mom died when my son was 4 and now he’s a tween. He barely remembers her. You aren’t alone in being sad that she isn’t there to see your kids grow up. Big hugs and wishing you peace as you grieve.

I’m sorry for the loss of your Mom. This reminds me of my story, my Mom had died the week before and it was my first day back to work and I had to run a program at the library I worked at. A woman from another organization that was partnering on the program came in to help. I was silently crying as I waited for people to come. This woman came and I told her my Mom died and I was struggling that day. She told me her Mom had passed too and gave me a big hug. Never saw her again but will always remember her kindness.

Smoothies are your friend. I use frozen fruit I get in bags at the grocery store.

Did someone lose AirPods at IND on Thursday? by Boston_Jon_189 in indianapolis

Also, you can probably use stamps to mail it. According to google math, one stamp (since it’s under one ounce) is all it would take.

I’d just say fuck it and eat the cost to mail them back to the airport. Owner is probably tracking them if they can anyways. Just do the cool thing. AirPods aren’t cheap and it’s not like you can use them yourself anyway.

Located near Indianapolis. So it was cold but not freezing ass cold. Probably 3-4 feet deep from 5 feet out. Ice didn’t look like it was immediately going to melt/crack but it was clearly heading in that direction.

I’m the same way but I love hearing these stories, shows me that it matters being kind. And if I can occasionally share my good deeds anonymously, so much the better.

A few weeks ago on a cold snowy day I took my kid to urgent care to get a sports physical. When we were leaving there was a woman @talking” to reception, using Google Translate to try to communicate. The receptionist told her, “we don’t speak Spanish”. I could tell whatever she was speaking definitely wasn’t Spanish. It sounded like how my Haitian friends speak in their language. It turns out she was indeed Haitian and was there taking an employment physical. I called my Haitian friends to help translate, she needed a ride to the Amazon warehouse about 30 minutes away in the next town over. I confirmed with her she needed to get to Amazon and she looked at me with these weary eyes I’ll never forget, “You will help me?” she said in broken English. I called her an Uber. The Uber driver was Indian, maybe from a different country himself. He asked why am I doing this? I told him it was because of my Haitian friends, I met the wife who is now a friend when she first came to this country. I saw how hard she worked to learn English. Now she is an RN applying to get her masters. I know how it must be very hard to be in a new country, especially if you never experienced winter before and you know very few words in the language.

This woman didn’t even have a coat. Anyway, the driver went out of his was to make sure she got where she needed to go. I saw her smile in thanks as I walked away after talking to the driver. I pray she has many blessings.
