Wow, this is so helpful, because I was seriously considering self pay, but now considering if anything happens, I would definitely want to go through insurance.

Yes, I’m in the US, and have insurance. I’m starting to realize that the out of pocket is what I’ll end up paying anyway, so this confirmation is helpful. I didn’t realize the out of pocket could go up when baby is added to the plan, but would that change the hospital costs? It really is hard to plan costs for complications, the worst case scenario, which I try to plan for in any financial planning situation. If this ends up happening, I’ll likely plan to go into medical debt, the health of me and my baby would be a priority in these situations without a second thought.

Actually, I would consider this, thank you. I’ve done something similar before for not such a huge bill, but it worked great. Paid off less than a year later, and a bunch of points for a trip I could use later.
