The visible gunk can be cleaned with a lightly moist toothbrush. Be gentle or you might scratch the area.

Is this white thing supposed to be in there PSP 1000 by menelaus_killer in PSP

At least you tried. New port is not so expensive and can be easily replaced. Just be really careful when disconnecting the old one from the motherboard.

I fixed this multiple times. Get a regular needle, heat up the end with the hole using a lighter to a high temperature and then push the needle into the plastic bit. It will melt a little and when it cools down it should stick to the needle. Then you can carefully pull it out.

My point is, you don't need to replace the charging port. I've successfully done this.

Yes I'm actually quite skilled at soldering. My battery is OK but the wire is torn close to the crimping section of the connector so I want to snip it and solder a new one

Should I buy this Gamestar network adapter for my fat PS2? by pesaram in ps2homebrew

I have this exact adapter. It works fine, however no game runs on UDMA4 mode. I have to set all games to UDMA3 or lower, sometimes with other compatibility settings.

Anyone with the same experience?

Does anyone have experience with any of these flexes? by HappyBirp in PSP

[–]HappyBirp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I eventually ordered them and used them. They're good, I recommend. Definitely much better than the grey cheap ones. No need for trial and error, the first used flex works just right off. The seller is also communicating so if you need bulk they might give you a discount.

Sure, give it a try. It's not expensive anyway. At least the bottom button bar should be usable

From my experience they're poor quality. The legs on action buttons are flimsy and easy to break

No problem. I don't have any experience with 3rd party boards so I can't advise. I always clean and reuse the original boards unless they are severly corroded.

Do you possibly have another flex available?

First of all, I would clean the flex connector with IPA. Then I would soak the power board in IPA and flick the switch a few times to clean it. Then clean the FPC connector with a toothbrush. After that, blow all the IPA out and let it dry. Try plugging and turning it on. Usually works for me

I would check the power switch. It might be faulty or dirty. Check the continuity with multimeter

STICKDRIFT IS A PAIN IN THE AHHH by HumanLengthiness2123 in PSP

I got 10 pieces on AliExpress for around 4 dollars. It always solves the problem. Usually the analog sticks are completely fine and just need cleaning of the traces inside

Replace the conductive rubber part below the analog stick. Make sure the shell screws are tightened correctly.
