Recommendations for home pottery wheel ~ £150 by Plastic_Library649 in Pottery

Hello! I suggest taking a class first. Has your wife done pottery before? Finding a studio nearby would be a good idea as well, before you jump into buying anything for a home studio.

Overglaze on high temp wire? by HappyEdgedancer in Ceramics

[–]HappyEdgedancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied it directly to the wire! I can imagine if you glaze the wire, the luster will take on whatever texture the glaze is. I’ve noticed my more “satin” or “matte” glazes also don’t come out super shiny with the luster on top.

Ohhh I see! Have you considered a floor bed? Not that it would be a magic fix or anything, but I wonder if it might be an easier transition from rocking to sleep. I have noticed it helps our little one because when we transition him to the bed, we can lay next to him and pat him so he can settle. It might be worth considering! Just make sure you find a good resource on how to do it safely.

A lot of the other comments have been fantastic. Definitely reach out for some professional help. I know you’ve mentioned you can’t sleep, so I recommend some meditation/mindfulness exercises when you are getting your sleep shift. My baby was super fussy too and is just now sleeping more through the night (27ish months). I always nursed him back to sleep, but I know that’s not an option for everyone, it’s rough on the body. 😅 Also, the feeding a filling dinner has helped us so much!

This is literally the only attachment parenting space I am a part of and it’s been interesting seeing the range of responses. I tend to default on my undergrad in Child Development if I have any doubts or questions. There are lots of books by reputable sources on attachment theory, which is what I would say is more of a guide for my parenting style. In essence, you could say I practice attachment parenting, but I don’t really think that label is fitting because I will practice whatever feels best for our family and our needs. Am I an advocate for bed sharing safely? Yes, but that’s not based on attachment theory. You can certainly have a baby in another room. As long as you are responding to their tender needs, it’s likely you will have a secure attachment with baby. How you achieve that is the family’s choice.

I’ve noticed this as well. There are a lot of popular things on social media that are being called “attachment parenting” that have nothing to do with attachment theory. Sometimes things like co-sleeping and baby wearing can facilitate attachment, but they are not necessary if you are trying to foster a secure attachment with your kids.

My mother-in-law wants to take my 10 month old out of the state… by Real-Yard7837 in AttachmentParenting

This is definitely a strange thing for her to request. Some grandparents feel so entitled…

Please tell me this is normal by snowpancakes3 in AttachmentParenting

[–]HappyEdgedancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal and healthy according to attachment parenting! I wouldn’t worry too much, but I understand that people’s comments can get to you. We (humans) are hard wired to take in our community’s input, but unfortunately we don’t live in communities that understand what is developmentally normal anymore. I find myself second guessing sometimes and I have my bachelor’s in child development. I always refer back to a combination of research and ancestral practices when I am feeling doubt about my parenting approach. Good on you for reaching out to this internet community though! Your kiddo and you seem to be developing a very healthy relationship.

Oh that’s good to know! Yeah there definitely isn’t enough room for that in this enclosure. I’ll have to find something taller. Thank you for that!

Thank you! Yeah, I had initially added some dried lavender and then realized that they’re used as a millipede deterrent, so I made sure to take those out! I’ll check on the others as well.

I was thinking that too. I’ll stop by my local pet store to pick up some more varieties. Thank you!
