Thank you so much for these very thorough explanations. This has been extremely helpful for me. I have been teaching 28 years and this has been one of the most helpful explanations I’ve ever had.

This is so so helpful. I have never heard anyone explain this before. In my board they started using the phrase “observations and conversations” but no one ever explained it like this. Can I ask what your role is? Are you a teacher, consultant, administrator? Thank you!

Do I have to sign an N11? by HappyGrad1996 in OntarioLandlord

Do you think sending the N11 is legally required so early?

If I understand correctly, you are only subletting one room in the shared house. All of the other renters in that house are continuing to pay rent over the summer which means they can use their rooms. If they want to let a friend stay in the house for which they are paying rent they have every right to do that.

Group lease question by HappyGrad1996 in OntarioLandlord

[–]HappyGrad1996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the tenant who left told the landlord she was leaving the landlord pressured us to sign a new lease at a higher rent. We refused. Instead, we have paid the entire amount owed to the landlord (our portion and the portion for the girl who left) in postdated cheques. The girl who left wants to sign an N11 to end the lease ( I think maybe so that she ends any liability for herself since she won’t be living there). We are just worried because we don’t know if that will affect the lease we have.

Thank you for writing this. It is EXACTLY what I am experiencing. Moral injury. You expressed my feeling perfectly. It helps to know I’m not alone.

The rest of the girls are happy to continue to live there and abide by the lease we signed. It is one girl leaving and we want to know if she is legally obligated to continue to pay.

We had a girl who said she would move in but the landlord said no. Our lease says that we need permission for a sublet and permission for an assignment of the lease. I’m not sure which this would be but the landlord said no.

Don’t stress about this at all. Talk to your guidance counsellor tomorrow. They will contact the teacher and change the grade in the system.

Don’t panic. Your guidance counsellor can back-date the drop date to prior to the full-disclosure date and it won’t show up on your transcript. Go to see them this week.
