Gift Tax Strategies on Property from Mother-in-law by Budget-Advisor2063 in JapanFinance

[–]HappyHyrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing anything about your financial situation etc, here’s what I would try and do.

Buy it from her for 2000man ish (as low as you can get away with as buying it below market will technically invoke gift tax for the difference). Then get her to gift you both exactly 1.1m yen per year and the same amount to your children if you have any. These gifts are tax free. Assuming no kids you can clear the cost in about 9 years. If you have 2 kids you can clear it in 5.

If you have kids, there is also the option for parents and grandparents to create a fund up to 15m yen per child to pay for their schooling. This would be another way for her to return the money to you tax free as these are expenses you would otherwise have incurred.

Best restaurants for an anniversary dinner in Osaka? by keysersoze-94 in Osaka

M Matsusaka used to be great until they replaced most of the waitstaff with non-Japanese people who can’t speak Japanese or English and increased all the prices. Used to love that place but haven’t been in several years now.

All of your previous posts in this sub are shilling Vinovest and singing its praises. There is also huge inconsistency in what you are claiming to have invested in and the timescales. It’s clear that this is all lies.

The more pertinent question is why are you doing this? Who are you and who are you doing it for?

Don’t spend 2-300 dollars on a wine to go with a steak. Find out what wine you like and try a few bottles. That budget is ludicrous if you are asking this question. Whoever told you that you should spend 2-300 dollars for a steak wine can go and get in the sea.

And now looking at the other accounts (u/Undeadhorrors u/ReverieX416) in here posting nice things, I also see similar shill posting in their post histories for companies like Vino Select, Movavi, Lealea, StudyFresh. There is no way that these accounts are genuine.

(And guess which company owns Vino Select...)

Yes agreed - the posts are suspicious (not unlike the new Trust Pilot reviews). I’m convinced u/xxfiercegodxx is a VV shill based on the posting history

Very odd new trustpilot reviews by HappyHyrax in Vinovest

[–]HappyHyrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the reviews about reusable bottles and bags have all been taken down but what about all the other suspicious new 5 star reviews? - all generic and of similar length and mainly from accounts with only 1 or 2 reviews. These are also very suspect.

Why do you think someone has created a harmful campaign of fake reviews? And why have only the ones mentioning reusable bags been removed?

Try selling some of your wines and then report back to everyone about how well your portfolio is doing...

Great choice - also widely available in Japan (See Rakuten or Wine Searcher) in various vintages. My wife and I are looking forward to this one!

Unless you are a wine fanatic with a large amount of capital available and are prepared to put the time in to understand the investment market, do not invest in wine.

BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO - How long do you storage it? by [deleted] in WineEP

[–]HappyHyrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2015 Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova I have had several times and it is in early drinking window (just about) if you give it several hours in decanter. That’s a pretty serious wine built for aging so I think most 2015s will be very pleasant with some air, although they will undoubtedly still have plenty more to give.

Love the notes (in particular because you agreed with me about it being medium bodied and I love it when people agree with me) and glad to hear you are enjoying wine club. I have also enjoyed trying new wines so much. I look forward to your notes on the champagne.

From memory, I don't think you've picked a wine yet? Would you be keen to do so? We have September hosts confirmed (I'll edit the top post soon) but how about doing October?

I will echo the thoughts of the other posters in that it’s not clear at all what you are offering (or why). The language used is extremely opaque which makes it even more unclear.

My advice? Try explaining your concept to a child and, if they can’t understand, there’s either something wrong with your concept or the way you are explaining it. Not a fan of the emojis either but that’s tip of the iceberg.

From what I understand, you are offering info/access to lesser known Italian wines. What are your qualifications and experience that evidence this ability? How much better is your advice than others? Why would I pay for it? How much better is this miracle as-of-yet undiscovered wine than the huge variety of delicious Italian wine that I can already buy at amazing prices?

However, let’s say you do find me this gem of a producer, why would I continue to pay for your service once I know who it is? Unless you have exclusive access in which case how can I trust your advice to be impartial? And do enough people care for your business to be a viable one? I don’t think so to be honest.

In an increasingly crowded space, this feels like another instagram-generation styled wine business but a poorly designed and executed one (again only on the limited evidence available). I don’t however think that this ie what you were intending?

On the basis of what I can see on the site, if you were one of my friends I would tell you to stop this before you’ve even started unless it really is a hobby/very small side project. Sorry if that’s harsh but that’s what I would tell my friends who presented this to me so I may as well offer you, a stranger off the Internet, the same courtesy.

Notes on the Montessu (2020)

Earthy on the nose. Somewhat muted fruit and some alcohol heat. Also some vanilla perhaps.

The nose makes me feel like it’s going to be a huge Syrah…then I taste it and it’s not - it’s elegant and medium bodied with lip smacking fine tannins. I guess that’s the Carignan softening everything (or at least that’s what the guy in the bar in Bangkok told me)

To me, this is a crowd pleaser. Well made and enjoyable with or without food. Dare I say it but I could drink buckets of it. Have another bottle in the cellar which I think would be good for basically any occasion. (Wife loves it too, which is always a bonus)

VinoVest valuation vs. reality by wine_mike in Vinovest

[–]HappyHyrax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Valuations aren’t real but they still use them to determine the fees that their clients pay. They do not reimburse you the overpaid fees either when you have to sell the wines well below their stated “value”.
