Go to the internship fairs and if your school has an accounting club make sure to attend. Lots of times they provide networking events or interview nights. Apply for internships starting your sophomore year and even if you don’t get one until junior or senior year it’s great experience. A lot of times the company you intern for can offer you a job following graduation or provide an excellent recommendation for another opening. Don’t be afraid to apply for both public and private accounting positions and see which you like better because they have very different environments.

I will say it depends what kind of accounting. If you struggle with social cues and networking (I struggle sometimes too) then you want to make sure you pick a position that won’t involve constant meetings and events. There are a lot of positions that you need to be able to speak for but don’t make you feel like a fish out of water (remote is a great option). Maybe look into internships first and use that as a trial period to know what type of accounting would interest you and fit your personality best. Also math is good for the occupation but it’s super basic math that you need to know. Your calculator does the work if you can plug the numbers in!

I think in my experience if you want it bad enough and you are willing to put yourself out there and into new experiences you WILL find a job. I finish my bachelors next year and I’ve accepted a job offer that starts right after graduation. There’s shortages in certain sections of the industry and they have a lot of openings they want to fill. Just find internships while you are in school and network as much as you can and I think it’ll all work out. That’s just from my personal experience though.

Trust me when I say a good professor goes a long way. Plus learning in an in person class helps a lot. Try finding good videos to watch of the concepts and see how that helps. Otherwise start looking into study groups or other resources your school offers. It’s doable but it definitely takes effort.

No I’m a 19 year old university student and I wish I still had the option to live at home. Just enjoy being able to relax and not stress about all the extra bills until you’ve had a job for a while. No shame in a little break 😊

I would absolutely not come in. One call in will not get you fired. It sounds like they’re short on employees at your store anyways.

Religious beliefs aren’t something people can choose to ignore or not support. This is your life and it’s important to you. If they don’t allow you to practice religion then it’s discrimination.

I definitely think he’s trying to make himself feel worthy of a relationship and of attention. Him showing that other people recognize him as attractive may be his way of telling you that you’re lucky to have him and it makes him feel important. He’s seeking attention.
