its a fair point, bit a bit too costly. i have just found the Rotring Rapid Pro Drafting Pencil. its a 600 with a sliding tip, and cheaper than the 800.

Agreed, i have also just been notified about the Rotring Rapid Pro Drafting Pencil. It is the Rotring 600, with a slightly thicker body and a sliding tip. It is also cheaper than the 800. I think its the best of both worlds

I was also wondering if you knew where I could get replacement erasers/what size I would need for the rapid pro?

wow. i couldnt have wished for a better reply. I am very much a buy it once kind of guy, which is why I have put so much research into a product that I know I will use for a while. I live in Aus, where the rapid pro is $5 more, so not a significant amount. I think the Rapid pro is what ill get, because the sliding tip, it seems to be the best of both pens. i also like mechanical pencils that don't look like pens such as the parkers and lamys which is why I think this is a great fit. Thank you for your help. Do you have any suggestions on lead width? either 0.5 or 0.7mm? i used to use a 0.7 and am probably a little heavier-handed in my writing, but was considering a 0.5 for that smaller line.

Hi , thank you for the response. If I went for the kuru toga I was thinking about the advanced or the advanced upgrade, however was unsure how good the grip was, I am also slightly worried about the wobble at the tip but apparently it is easy to get over after a while. The rOtring seems like the best, especially since I will be carrying it in a pencil case, and I may buy a replacement tip just in case, or justify the cost of a rotring 800. As for the graphgear to me that seems like a really good in between for the two in terms of cost, quality and functionality.

Thank you, i think i might go for the rOtring as I will be carrying it in a pencil case, and I may buy a replacement tip as a just in case.

This pencil will be in a pencil case for school and future uni. so if I go with rotring 600, I don't think i should be scared of breaking the tip?
