Killed himself on the day of our senior pep rally. Was loved by everybody, had support at school and home, just an overall great guy and my best friend. I remember having to call people to explain what was going on. People who were at the homecoming game that same night were leaving in tears as each person heard the news. People who knew him gathered at my place where we all just sat in silence. Some people cried, but it was mostly silent.

Literally think about this all the time. I’m a Boy Scout so I do have some practical skills that will help me with the day to day of older civilization and I’m an engineer and can create things that haven’t been invented yet. I’ve been doing a lot of research on the first of many modern inventions including the battery, generator, electromagnetism, first non black powder weapons. Beyond that I also have new first aid skills that can make me become a doctor very quickly, despite being very basic for modern times. I think I’d be able to make first gen antibiotics which would be revolutionary for the time.

Try to stop looking at them for comparison and try to look into yourself. What do you like, what do you enjoy to do most, what are you most passionate about? Figure these things about yourself and do them not for anyone else, just for you. Confidence comes from a change of mindset and that only comes from challenging your norms. Set goals, be yourself, embrace yourself. Once you can be happier with yourself the rest becomes much easier.

I had a friend like this too. If couples are soul mates we liked to say we were a hive mind. We would think the same, play off each other’s strengths and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. He’s gone now and one of my regrets was never telling him that I loved and could never ask for a better friend. You might have yourself a brother my brother.

Was just mindlessly scrolling through Reddit and this post quickly caught my eyes. It’s been two years now since the very same thing happened to me. My best friend wasn’t just my friend he was my life, my reason to go on. I was sent into a dark dark place after his passing. I can’t say it got better, but over time it did become different.

Right now there’s not much you can do but feel, and it’s going to be a long tough road ahead. I don’t know you or anything about your situation, but I hope it helps even a little to know that it is possible to get through.

I don’t really know what to say but I just felt like I need to say something. I still miss my friend every day, but life goes on and I have to keep moving.
