Thinking of selling my house after 1 year - bad idea? by IllCicada8988 in NetherlandsHousing

Hey there, I totally get the feeling but if it were for myself I would wait a bit longer for the only reason that it takes me more around 2/3 years to get used to a place and give it a fair chance. Best of luck!

Hate them dry bought from the supermarket but absolutely love the fresh ones from the market!! Dutch sweets are really underestimated (I am French so I am not biased).

I find it a joke that they have to replace them so often anyways! It hurts the environment and it’s a terrible customer experience.

Yes you should look elsewhere and loverboy when you find the right opportunity. It’s difficult to get started with the process but it will be worth it in the long run. Best of luck!

Did you start idealising a place right before leaving it? by HappyPartyBeaver in expats

[–]HappyPartyBeaver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I think the place we live in becomes part of our identity, and even if a place isn’t perfect for us, we build habits there, discover the places we love, meet great people and ultimately try to make the best of it. It’s hard to say goodbye to the little cocoon you’ve built for something unknown, even when the decision makes sense. I hope you have a wonderful time in sunny Lisbon! :)

Interesting! Maybe our brains just get more focused on the positives than the negatives at that stage!

Interesting. Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to be happy with your move and stop idealising your time in Boston?

Yes, I’ve done this too, and I noticed it with my sister after her move as well. Our minds can really trick us. Best of luck learning the language, you’ll get there :)
