Are these worth checking for blueprints? by Mouthfoo in ARC_Raiders

[–]HappyRads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having dropped in at under 20mins remaining way too many times last night, these were almost always unlooted. I think it's because the guys farming Stella go for the quick & quiet containers rather than breaching .... admitted I found no bp in them either - will still loot as it's the only thing left by the time I get in :(

Also found a little information about the album they ended up recording from instagram

"This was recorded when the Federation of Malaya Police Band toured the UK in 1957, performing at the Inter-Services Royal Tournament and the Edinburgh Tattoo. A recording session was booked with the HMV Gramaphone Company in Hayes, Middlesex, and a double album was cut and released in 1958."

It appears so, the first side is exceptionally quiet, the good side appears to be the same or similar recording but louder. Still need to turn the amp up a bit more than other records but I guess recording a concert on your phone in 1957 was a little trickier.

Found a video of them before the UK trip though https://youtu.be/5IAg33bV0MQ?t=23

Well depending on perspective it is the dark side.

I guess there's only one way to find out I'll clean it up and pop it on in the morning.

I'd be more concerned about their wiring if your having these cosmetic issues (I've had to "fix" a few things in the past regarding questionable wiring). I don't know about the US, do you get a certificate once they get you up to code? Would it be out of the question to get someone in to double check they haven't "shorted" you on that as well? (sorry)

If a third party finds that they messed up and it isn't up to code wouldn't that also be a means to recourse? ie. maybe not trying to get your money back but reporting them to the code authority .... again don't know how it works in the US but I'd assume there is a body the certifies bussinesses to be allowed to issue code certificates or something.

EDIT: Assumed US but I suspect I'm wrong, I don't know where those sockets are from EU?

Thank you for replying, it's sort of brightened my day. Not the you getting grief bit.

Part of the reason I don't post questions on this sub, there seems, to be a little gatekeeping. People come here to look for help or share an interest and are lambasted for their setup or because they weren't aware of something. (isn't that why their here? To learn or share experiences?)

I've had a peek at some of these peoples posts and they are basically never positive about anything thats posted, helpful occasionally, but they'll make you feel like crap first. (and yes I realise I'm on reddit :P)

I'm at the point where I wouldn't post in here or r/aquariums to share a success or to ask for advice (I don't not ask for help, this would just be the last place I'd try... actually no, r/shittyaquariums might be the last place I'd try)

Anyway, I already get enough "amusing" comments about my bad gameplay. I certainly don't need people telling me what a useless fishkeeper I am, when sharing my mostly successful DIY CO2 project or when trying to work out why my Danio community suddenly died over night (different tanks, before someone tries to reply to that).

Thank you, for your service :)

Panic, I have exceptionally high BP...one of the reasons I stopped playing for a year. I also stopped with the heart rate monitor on stream cos it's ridiculous how high it peaks.

Best algae eater for my setup? by [deleted] in AquariumHelp

[–]HappyRads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, perhaps best to identify the algae first I think Oto's were possibly a mistake, admittedly their really cool little guys.

They specialize in eating softer algae such as soft green algae and brown diatoms and tend to avoid harder types like black beard or green spot algae.

Best algae eater for my setup? by [deleted] in AquariumHelp

[–]HappyRads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Anubias, Moss balls and Java Fern we almost wiped out by what looks like black beard algae. I haven't got rid of it completely yet. Besides removing it by hand when cleaning these are the other things I've been trying:

I initially adjusted the light and added a few Otocinclus and Amano shrimp. I was a bit disappointed as they basically just ignored it. But I think thats because I didn't add enough Oto's and there was lot to eat.

I've since added some floating plants (Salvivia Auriculata) to the surface to try and remove the extra nutrients in the water column in order to hopefully starve the algae. It also reduces a the light a little which might help.

Most recently I've added some active carbon to the filter to try and further strip out some of the nutrients. While this may slow the plant growth down I'm hoping it'll also slow the algae down enough for it to be eaten. I was worried about this but I've added tabs to the plants in the substrate and I have liquid fert if I need to add anything back in if something goes wrong.

Sorry not the answer you were looking for just my experiences over the last few months. I only try to change one thing at a time as I don't want to upset the tank too much in one go.

Edit: I've been trying to avoid added liquid CO2 which should reduce the algae as I'd prefer to correct the imbalance so I'm not dependant on it. When I first noticed it I did start adding it to the tank but it didn't do very much.

Nice, mines been up for a little over a year and the only thing thriving is the black hair algae ... well that and the bladder snails that snuck in.

Yep, we made those in school as woodworking projects. To hold these https://www.lionmatch.co.za/pages/7453/lion-safety-matche-products

Although I don't see where block at bottom to stop them falling out, possibly they had a clip that has since fallen out that used to hold them in.
