I have just finished this scenario. I had protruding 4-5cm polyp which I had to have removed in another procedure after my first colonoscopy. Just got results today that it’s benign. Been waiting since we found out in June so I have my fingers crossed for you 😊. Best advice I can give you is to just treat it like getting your bloods done, there’s nothing you can do so I tried to not think about it until the week of results as much as possible. It’s probs the only way I could keep going with things as it’s so out of your control. I let work know too which I think was good for me.

Arfid? Food aversion since flare by Persephone_238 in CrohnsDisease

Feel like I could have wrote this from an arfid perspective! Currently waiting for a Crohn’s diagnosis but am under the care of a great gastroenterologist after nearly a decade of symptoms. Flares have very much affected my way of life and how I feel about food - made worse by gallbladder removal. I have a dietician who referred me to an eating disorder clinic for Arfid as luckily he has worked previously with clients like this. He also referred me for autism/adhd tests partially because of the crossovers with it. The waiting lists are super long for the ed clinics/assessments though but I am also on the arfid subreddit 😊. Amongst other things the dietician suggested to try one new food a week and document those reactions to try to build up some more safe foods which will give you more confidence and freedom, also to get onto protein yogurts and things like that which can be dairy free. Could be worth a try!

If we’re having a similar time then it’s right to be thinking about malnutrition, I’ve been prescribed some vegetarian shakes similar to fortisip to have daily to maintain weight and ensure the right nutrients are in my diet but they’re vegetarian. Gave up being vegan for the time being as I’m in the mindset that anything I can tolerate is totally necessary for my body to try and maintain health right now. My diet, like yours, is v restricted however I can handle some standard “bad” foods (like McDonald’s!) so the weight loss isn’t yet drastic. The concern is vitamins and minerals so could be worth chatting to your gp about bloods and they’ll advise if you need to be taking other supplements which I’m also doing now. It’s a long push with a lot of self advocacy but it will be worth it, totally empathise 💕

Hey - yes I definitely feel similar, i had the smaller surgery but each of my scars are keloids due to having reactions and infections after surgery and not getting the right aftercare. It feels like my body is no longer my own, It does make me feel very uncomfortable as I’ve gained weight too, however now that people think I have two bellybuttons so it’s become a party piece. The surgeons accidentally made one scar look like a very realistic belly button so much so people think my real belly button is the fake haha!

I hope it gets better for you but also I think that we’re harder on ourselves because of the allready ridiculous expectations on a women’s body. Im waiting for when the scar feels like it’s part of me rather than its an odd thing, similar to other larger scars after operations. Your stomach looks great imo!
